Pre-Kinect MS Rare was good, would say merge with Sony but then there would be a monopoly in Japan...

Beyond the hows, there is only one worthy goal: Nintendo's next console needs to dominate, sell way more than their competitors. Otherwise, it will obviously be a massive failure and the inevitable result will be Nintendo going third-party.

After all, It's not about making a profit, but winning the so more important fanboys console war.

It kinda was but now they are just a shadow of their former self... A merge with Sony would also suck. I think they should just go handheld only. That is if they keep doing horrible numbers in the home console front.

1) Nintendo needs to get in contact with the big third parties and carefully listen to what they want, then make sure that they will do none of those things.

2) Start increasing their workforce right now. Conventional wisdom is that you need to cut jobs when the company isn't doing well, but that would absolutely the wrong thing for Nintendo to do.

3) Put a proper account system and Virtual Console in place now, so that everything is ready for the next console's launch and things don't start all over again once again.

4) Stop toying around with IPs. Make straightforward sequels or new IPs. The constant shoehorning of new concepts into existing IPs creates a lack of consistency. While the result is still a quality game in most cases, it doesn't necessarily meet the consumers' expectations. Note that "straightforward sequels" doesn't mean "no new ideas", it means "no fundamental changes".

5) Get your priorities straight. There are IPs that are more important than others, so they must get the proper attention in development, marketing and timing of release.

100% this. Shame Nintendo needs a whole gen to address these issues.

Also point #4 is on the $. I've been voicing similar perspective for a while. Nintendo wants their cake and eat it too. What this does is actually damage a brand more IMO.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I don't think the Wii U is doomed but it's obvious that Nintendo excels in the handheld market, maybe focusing on the handheld market and going 3rd party with games that are better suited for consoles?

Having their franchises available elsewhere may also destroy their handheld appeal. If you can suddenly get your Mario/Zelda/Metroid/etc fix on your PS4 or Xbone, it would be cheaper to just avoid the 3DS, even if the 3DS versions were better.

Well 3DS will still have tons of exclusive Nintendo games and 3rd party. Think of it like right now but instead of the Wii U it'll be the PS4 and/or Xbone. Hopefully it'll never come to it but I'd say that is a more ideal solution than fully going out of the hardware biz. Not saying they're anywhere near that point atm

They should release AAA games, so far there are none on the Wii U until Mario Kart 8.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

WiiU will be the Japanese gamers console of choice this gen. Nintendo will revive the Japanese console industry. It shrunk by about 5 million over the past 3 gens over there.

NIntendo will use that to attack Brazil.
