Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How will Nintendo's next console be successful?

They lost many gamers ,, no third parties will ever come, first party games not as sought after as in the past, current leaders are trying to destroy the company, wii u will drain their funds giving them one last go as a console maker.

So what, if anything, can they realistically do?

I see a few moves they can make.

1. Capitalise on the success of the DS/3DS by creating a peripheral to allow DS/3DS games to be played on the Wii U, using the game pad as the second screen.

2. Recapture the hardcore market by bringing back certain staple franchises that have been sorely ignored. The Wii U would be very enticing with a new HD current-gen 'Star Fox', 'F-Zero', 'Golden Sun', 'Fatal Frame' and even 'StarTropics' game. These are all first party Nintendo licences, use them.

3. Use some of that massive pile of money they have from the Wii and DS/3DS to buy up struggling development teams. I genuinely think signing Sega and Capcom as exclusive Nintendo development subsidiaries would help greatly. Niether company is in a strong financial position, but both have great franchises such as 'Shenmue', 'Golden Axe', 'Shinobi', and obviously 'Sonic' for Sega and 'Street Fighter', 'Devil May Cry', 'Resident Evil' and so much more for Capcom. These are all franchise that Nintendo could do wonders with. A brand new HD modern take on 'Shinobi', a modern revival and completion of 'Shenmue 3', or a decent, from the ground up reboot to 'Resident Evil', all exclusive to Wii U. That would turn heads. Nintendo has the money to do this, it has the production power to use these franchises, the organisation to do it properly, and both Sega and Capcom are skint and could greatly benefit from Nintendo's guiding hands.

These are the three things I'd hope Nintendo will do in the next 2 years. Honestly, if even one of these things happen I'd be ecstatic and I'm sure even just one of these things along would make a massive difference for the security of the console, but I'm not holding my breath.

Moar games is needed. I say invest in development powers. Afaik most of their games are finacially successful and they claim that games sell consoles, so I don't see a reason not to.

i think only the SM3DW and MK8 game sales make wii U profitable.

They need to realize that their auidence isn't the same as the Playstation or Xbox audience.

They need new IP's that are more appropriate and relevant to today's youth.

They need to make the the system cheaper. 300 dollars for the Wii U is too much. Especially when you consider how expensive Nintendo games are.

they need to fully ignore 3rd parties and open up more studios or buy up some to cover a wider range of games and pump out more games than they currently are.

but honestly why do people ignore the third party support they are getting now as if there is none at all?

Who knows, Nintendo will have plans up there sleeve, they're not just going to roll over and die.

They can still turn things around, Sony managed to turn the PS3 back around ( taking a hefty loss though). It all depends on what risks Nintendo are willing to take on the console.

I know that the N64 and Gamecube are considered "failures" by a lot of gamers, but they also gave us some of the greatest, most revolutionary, and most important games of all time. Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Golden Eye, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Wind Waker, etc.

I don't know how much I really mind the Wii U being another N64...

By being the WiiU's Successor and Radically Different.

merge with MS

Best thing to do is ride on the 3ds, keep the mobile systems going, stop the consoles and just make software for ps4/xbo/and Steambox.

idc what system its on as long as it never goes away or to a touch screen.
