I really don't understand why you guys have such huge backlogs. Do you get these games on a sale or something? Seriously, if you don't have the time to play a game you don't buy it. Just off the top of my head I'm interested in buying God of War: Ascension, Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Tearaway and Ocarina of Time 3D. But I don't have the time to play them all so I don't buy. Especially when it comes to PS3 games as they drop so much in price over time.

My current "back catalog" looks like this:
- Pikmin 3 (95% through, no idea why I stopped playing)
- Super Mario 3D World (50% through, only play it in multiplayer and we'll finish it soon)
- Pokémon X (70% through, still playing)
- Uncharted 3 (stopped playing long ago because I lost interest)
- Zelda: A Link between Worlds (just got started today)

I'm either playing these games or stopped playing them because I lost interest. If a game bores me I don't beat it, I just toss it aside and make a memo in my head to not buy the sequel. If you don't buy a game at launch but wait you can easily save $30+ per game in the process (not counting Nintendo games as they keep their price over time). And after the hype died off you have a way better understanding of the game's actual quality and know better which games to buy. It just saves you a lot of money and time because when you don't buy something you don't feel obligated to play through it.

Is a combination of things... First we want to support the companies, so we buy the games when they come out, second there are good sales that we don't know if they are going to offer such a good prices latter, third we have time to play them but not all at the same time, so we have some backlog, for example I just finished CoD Ghosts for Wii U, but I still have Wii games that I have not finished.

I generally tend to buy new games only after I've finished or lost interest with the previous ones, so this is probably the biggest backlog I've ever had (as in, games I haven't even started yet).

BioShock
Grand Theft Auto IV (including Episodes from Liberty City)
Victoria II
Hearts of Iron III
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

I've had Radiant Dawn sitting in the shelf since forever, because I've been (passively) trying to find a copy of Path of Radiance before playing RD. Some of the games I've bought/received only very recently from Steam.

As for the rest of the list, I blame Paradox games. Fuck you, Mount & Blade, go to hell, Crusader Kings II, stop taking up all my time, Europa Universalis IV. Why do I even bother buying new games if you won't let me play them?!

I'm currently working through far too many to list.

Mainly they're Wii U and Vita games at the moment with a couple of PS4 too.

More recent games at the moment:

Wii U

Lego City Undercover (omg loving this so much!)
Pikmin 3
New Super Mario Bros U
Sonic Lost World

Also looking to add 3D World to this list ASAP!

Vita

Persona 4 Golden (good way throuugh this now... at least 30%! which is more than most games are in length in itself haha
Dragon's Crown
Muramasa
Batman
Soul Sacrifice
WRC4
Hotline Miami
along with a load of others.

PS4

Need for Speed Rivals
Lego Marvel
FIFA
Killzone
Contrast
Trine 2

Sadly, that's only about half of my actual backlog >_< my back catalogue is being massively cut back though, used to include every Dreamcast game amongst other things.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

It looks like a foot-high pile of cases and longer Steam list than can fit on my screen.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

Way too many. I have a bunch left over from 2 generations ago that's really slowing me up. Not to mention all of the half finished games I have.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

That's what it looks like atm. Hoping to finish at least 1 by February.

I did the thing where it estimates how long your steam backlog will take to complete and it's roughly 300 hours. And I spend about half of my PC gaming time with multiplayer games like Smite and TF2, so it'll probably take at least 600 hours to finish that backlog realistically. I also have several 3DS/PS3 games to complete, and I got a PS4 for Christmas with a year of PS+.

I'm screwed.

AC4
Metro Last Light
GT6
Darksiders 2
Fallout 3
Enslaved
Outlast
FEAR 3
F1 2013
All the Thief games
Xenoblade Chronicles
System Shock 2

damn Steam sales...
