It's kinda crazy that given their missteps, and the 180 with the DRM policies, the XBOX brand doesn't seem very damaged in North America. Even if it's overtracked, it still seems to be keeping pace quite well with the PS4 in this region. Sony still has a bit of an uphill battle in NA, I think. Obviously, at the rate it's going, PS4 is on pace to outdo the XBone majorly in overall sales -- especially when you factor in Japan -- but Xbox 360 seems to have given the Xbox brand a strong presence in America.
Personally, I'd like to see this change, as I occasionally compete in tournaments and it's frustrating carrying convertors to use my preferred controller on other consoles. However, I think Xbone is still set to take comparable market share from PS4 in America with games like Titanfall and Quantum Break. Sony did good promoting Destiny as much as they have, but I don't think many of those gamers forgot that the game will also be on Xbone. Myself, I'll (hopefully) be getting a PS4 with Infamous in March, but Titanfall looks really impressive to me, and I'm not even much for the FPS genre.
