Because certain people just tend to focus on whatever region their preferred console is doing well in. Knack has sold 1/3 of what Super Mario 3D World has with an extra week (albeit without Japanese sales, but I dounbt that will make too much of a difference). Knack is selling slightly above Pikmin 3. Like 70k more than Lego City. About 60% of what Kid Icarus Uprising sold. 60K less than Wind Waker (not counting bundles/digital). If we want to compare launch titles to be fair, then it's about 1/3 of what NSMBU did.
Super Mario 3D World is selling 3x faster than Knack, is dropping slower, and is on its way to be a multimillion seller. Knack is selling on par with third tier Nintendo franchises and might hit 1.5 million with some luck. No need for discussion comparing the two.

Well, since it was only ever outselling SM3DW in the UK, it's worth noting that week ending Dec 28th Knack is once again outselling SM3DW in the UK.

I don't think it's particularly worth noting that Knack is, at most, 2-3k ahead of SUper Mario 3D World in the UK. First of all, the margin of error on the VGChartz estimate makes it hard to take a 3,000 gap either way pretty insignificant (I'm pretty sure UK official figures only give place values, not numbers). Meanwhile, 3D World is doubling it (30K gap) in France, doubling it in Germany (37K) more than trippling it in the US (over 300K gap not counting this week which is likely another 70-100K). So... I really don't see why it's really worth noting a small, or nonexistent, gap in one region is really worth noting.
