You have to thank Japan for that of course.

I'm not buying those 3DS numbers for one second, not after how it was overtracked last month. Also, didn't PS4 have a 500k launch in Asia? Where did those numbers go?
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

20k for LA + Oceania + Asia + Mid-East. lol |
The 20K is really funny. PS4 is 100% undertracked. PS4 is sold out in all those regions. Sony is not stuiped enough to ship 500,000K to sell only 20K. This is redecilous. They could have just send it all to NA if they were going to sell 20K.

They miss or beat projections everytime... I agree with Pezus.
Production was never a issue for reach that target... the expected demand was... Sony just expected way less demand than they are having.
And I think you know but I will say anyway... they can change the forecast untils weeks befores the Results come out... Sony did that a lot of times... or did you never read about "Forecast Revisions"?

that 500k number was never official. but you would think that PS4 wouldnt just beat XB1 numbers in "other" countries by just 1k on the week PS4 launched in 11 more countries.

I can't see why would Sony ship 2k for what seems to be their biggest launch. Don't forget that the One is not avilable outside of the main regions , how come it is selling neck to neck with the PS4 while it is not officially available in "Others" ? it doesn't make sense imo. |
Sony made only one shippment of about 4k consoles to Brazil, a country with 200mi people. Reports from Argentina and Chile show they never re-stock there either. You can pre-order only for February.
It dosen´t make sense, I know. But that is how Sony choosed to play.
On the Microsoft side I can assure you, Brazilian never saw a marketing campain that broad for a console (or a tech product) EVER. Metro, newspaper, TV adds... And, there are tons of XOne in every store and they are re-stocked weekly. Half my active Live friends has migrated to the XOne.
Not to mention the Sony Insider leak of PS4 selling around 250k in USA in second week of December.

No, WiiU was overtracked by something like 50k (around 23% iirc), while 3DS was WAY off. Now ioi has adjusted 3DS up yet again, despite lifetime 3DS sales in America being 700k too high, and in the UK it is 500k too high. |
WiiU was overtracked by 25k. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=174214
3DS was way off, but it's numbers did look way off from the start. 300k (in the US) for the second week of december is far from impossible. I actually thought 900k globally was low for 3ds this week. Is it actually tracking below 2012's december so far?
Predictions for LT console sales:
PS4: 120M
XB1: 70M
WiiU: 14M
3DS: 60M
Vita: 13M

Where did your undertracked number come from?
Hypothetically if we use what sony has said they believe they will sell 3m by the end of 2013. This also shows Sony is shipping 5m units by march.
Now lets take in for a moment what is going on between November 15th to March 1st.
December 1st Sony announces 2.1m. Supply contrain lasted til around the 15th when Walmart recieved a big supply. Over those two weeks they were selling about around 200-300k. That puts it at 2.7m. Now unless we expect Sony to magically ship a lot more over the next two weeks to reach 3.5m which is plausible but doubtful. Why?
Well considering Sony is releasing PS4 in Japan on February 22nd that would equate to a large number of the shipments. lets just say 500k hypotheically. That would boost that 2.7 to a 3.2. This would make for 1.8m PS4's in the next 3 months. 1.8 divided by 12 weeks equals 150k. This would be 150k shipments weekly for January to march outside of japan.
But if we increase that number like you are saying undertracked that means that sony would be shipping less than 150k a week outside of japan for the next 3 months which is oddly minicsule wouldnt you say?
Also what makes you think that Sony can magically ship more consoles than Microsoft in the same time frame?
EDIT: So you know iim not sauing it isnt possible for it to reach 3.5m by January. What im aruing is the fact youre saying undertracked this week rather than what it will end up being at the end of the year.

I know it was a leak, but it would make sense for Sony to send such a massive shipment for a major launch in Asia. I'm not sure why VGC thinks Sony would only stock 20k units for that.
