What if you plug-in a WiiU?

Too much lag

As I said in my OP, the lag is a fraction of a second. The lag is not an issue for most games. If you compare side by side, the lag become obvious.

By the way, I only recommend doing this if you want to access features on X1 while playing an older console. Otherwise, don't bother.

If its perceptible at all by a human then 2 things automatically follow:

a:) Its unsuitable as an AV input because the output sound and video will inevitably fall out of phase without some form of correction.

b:) Its unsuitable as an input for any game where reaction speed and timing are important , such as platformers , FPS or sports games.

I've read about the lag from multiple places, no offense but I believe them over you, especially considering your a huge X1 fan.

So you think I'm trying to mislead people about this?

The video KHlover posted shows exactly what I said. The lag is a fraction of a second.

The difference is between what you were saying about it being barely noticable and them saying it was annoying.

It's more obvious with the convienience of the wii u game pad, it makes the lag easy to notice, were as it's slight lag and hard to notice with a 360 controller that doesn't clearly show how much it lags.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

Too much lag

It also depends on the tv, the gamepad is faster then many HDTVs
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-10-16-wii-u-gamepad-wireless-latency-is-less-than-many-hdtvs

Doesn't take away the measurements people made are upto 170ms on top of display lag. That's more then the round trip lag of killzone 2 that so many people were complaining about. Plus MS advises against using interactive sources as well.

I'ts a hands on thing, 1st time I did it, navigating through the dash was very responsive. I was going about the whole thing with the mindset of looking for lag but the lag was hard to find. looking at the gin video and actually feeling out the response time is two different things.

What fraction? Games are about playing, so every 10 ms is important. Many gamers can't notice BIG lag and they are fine with it. It's not so important that somebody doesn't feel the lag. I don't have X1.

a) Since it's hdmi, I would assume the audio is synched. HDMI audio synch has been around since version 1.3
(Otherwise those 120hz smooth motion tv's with upto 150ms delay would never work)
b) definitely

The people in the video even say themselves the lag makes the game hard to play, even the biggest xbox fanboy at IGN, Ryan said so.

Two things...

They are comparing side by side. Its not that obvious when you're just playing the game.

They picked a game where timing is very crucial. Atleast it was in past Mario games.

Your argument is too black and white. For games where timing is crucial, that fraction of a second lag might be an issue. But for most games, its not a big deal.

I beat several games using OnLive, a little lag does not cripple most games.

Sony bought Gaikai because they know a little lag is tolerable for most games. Bear in mind cloud gaming has more lag.
