Will Wii U outsell GameCube?

At this point all we have to go on is that the GC sold quite a bit more than the Wii U at this point. No one is saying one is better, or that the Wii U can't sell better, but at the end of the day we can only go on what we know.

Everything points to the Wii U selling worse. Honestly anyone who says anything different is just in denial or biased...

How is that being biased or in denial?  We have no idea what the future holds.  The Wii U could take off next year and smash records for all we know.

I want to be positive and say yes. We  have to wait and see how MK8 and Smash Bros 4 perform.

Alot of people are forgetting that the Gamecube in the first year had Smash Bros,Luigis Mansion,Animal Crossing,Metroid Prime,Pikmin,Monkey Ball,Mario Party, Super Mario Sunshine,Waverace,Eternal Darkness, Wind Waker, and a bunch of solid 3rd party games and it never really took off. The Wii U's launch was really great, but anyone who didnt have one had zero reason to buy one until August when Pikmin came out, and thats one of the most Niche things Nintendo has. All Nintendo has released is 2 bundles, Wind Waker, and SM3DW and the sales are really close to the Gamecubes already. Mario Kart Wii sold 33 million copies and it would buck every historical trend ever if a direct sequel to a game that popular didnt atleast sell half as many copies. The Wii U is going to be the hot console for atleast 9 months next year.

NSMBU isn't going to sell half of NSMB Wii. Not unless they bundle it with every Wii U sold from here on out.

Nintendo has released NSMBU, NSLU, Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Zelda: WWHD, LEGO City Undercover, Wii Sports Club, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Sing Party, Wonderful 101, and gotten some ok third party games like Zombi U, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed IV, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Splinter Cell Blacklist, COD Ghosts, Scribblenauts. It's had a fairly solid release list since August-November and sales continue to underwhelm.

The system is still fairly far behind the GameCube and probably will remain that way for a while.

Yes, of course.

Wii Fit Plus sold over 20m - do you expect WFU to sell over 10m? It hasn't charted anywhere it's been released yet.

I think so. Gaming and Nintendo franchises have grown since then. Still, it's sad that it has to work hard to catch the GameCube.

Barely, but yes. I'm thinking 25 million in sales. Unless of course Mario Kart and Smash Bros fail to push consoles then I won't be too sure.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Wii U's more expensive than GCN ever was, it still has a chance not to butcher Nintendo's key brands the way GCN did, and brands such as Smash Bros and Kart have also grown a great deal since the 6th gen. There are many reasons Wii U could sell better.

"We have no idea what the future holds."  EXACTLY!  So all we have to go on now is what we know, and what we know is the Wii U is selling far worse than the Gamecube and a 3D mario made nearly no difference.
