Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why are you offended when people call the Xbox One XBONE?

I've seen people referring to other people who buy the xbone, the xboners.

Now thats kind of annoying. But xbone is fine.

ill have whatever drugs you been taking cause you are tripping. Haven't seen anyone bitch about XBONE

No. I think it is the best name EVAR

I didn't even know it was just in a mocking way, I thought it was a universal term.

I never use the term, i always say Xbox One, and just now i realized why people take everything serious i say about it no matter how ridiculous it is.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I tend to say X1 out of respect, but most of my xbox friends embrace the term XBone so it might rub off on me eventually.

And no one gives a crap about some product from comcast that no one ever heard of before Xbox One, so X1 is perfectly fine. :)

XBO/XB1/X1 look so much better
XBone isnt even an acronym and only originated from fanboys using it in a derogatory manner
it's like when people say M$ instead of MS or MicroSoft

It is probably more of who says it and how they say it rather than anything else. It has been mentioned before but Xbone is actually longer than other terms like xbo, x1, and xone. Xbo by the way has the first 3 letters that xbone has but people go out of their way to add the "ne" part to it. Have you asked yourself why people do that as well?

Xbone originated as a derogatory term and it rubs people the wrong way. Especially on a small site like this where everybody knows everybody and their posting history.

Am I bothered by it? No, but it is meant as sly pun for some of the people who use it.

Because X1 makes way more sense

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

People take offense to that? I didn't even know that was supposed to be a negative when people call it Xbone. Oh well I guess it doesn't matter, if people get but hurt over that type of stuff I'd love to see how they handle themselves in a real life argument.
