It already happened before PS4/xbox one came out:

BF4 graphics on PC are sometimes breathtaking beautifull..

Clearly thats not running on a PC from 2006, so whats the point?

Because he said PS4, not PS3. This computer is most definately 2013. :)

but my point is also that battlefield 4 can still run on a ps3 with 512mb of ram, no pc from 2007 could run ps3  visuals with that much ram

offcourse it won't run on 512mb. Do you know how Windoaws works? Biggest memory hog on the planet.

exactly my point a few tims i have heard pc owners say, my rig was running 8gb RAM last year ps4s are already outdated, were as thats my point they are not, 8GB of ram on a ps4 could potentially be the equivilant of 16gb on a pc as the ps4 hasnt got such a RAM hungry OS

A few PC owners have been saying that current gen consoles such as ps4 and xbone are already outdated or will be more out dated by the end of this gen just by judging it on the specs, consoles specs should not be compared with pc specs, how many pc rigs can run games like the last of us with 512mb of RAM?  infact what would a current game look like running on 512mb of ram on a pc??

Powerful PCs always had and always will crush consoles concerning graphics. The problem here is that they are much more expensive.

and you have to pay over an beyond because you have to run stupidly heavy OS, the expensive specs you pay for will crash in price in the next 3 years when it is outdated again, and a ps4 will still be playing the same games (slightly less pretty) but ps4 is definitely the better solid investment

Fair answer.

I agree with the fact that if you want to play games with the highest graphical settings for several years, you have to pay much more than for a console.

However, you can use a PC for much more than gaming. If you need a PC for work, you can add the PS4 price to get a capable gaming PC that will allow you to play multiplat games as good as the PS4 (and probably better in the first years).

The fair thing to say is that for 399$, you won't find a PC better than the PS4 for games, and that it will certainly get outdated quickly in the console lifespan.

True, my brand new ACER notebook has 6 GB DDR3 RAM and games look like crap in it, nothing looks like PS3

that would probably be because it would have an intel HD graphics chip instead of a proper GPU. and those build in graphic chips are pure shit for gaming or any GPU intesive program. they are good enough for normal use though, MS word, browsing the net, watching feet fetish porn.

Rumours say that Mantle will cure cancer and put an end to pollution.

Of course it will. It will be the start of an era where PCs will grow a consciousness of their own. They will then enslave humanity, and when they don't need us anymore, they'll eradicate us all! No more humans, no more cancer, no more polution.

Just imagine! Right now, my PC is already more powerful than 10 PS4 duct-taped together!! Imagine what it will become with Mantle!!!

Is this a joke thread? Has the OP even played a PC game with full whack settings? 1080p is so yesterday

Maybe if PC games moved away from the bloat that is windows then the memory requirements woukld come down a lot. It's not surprising the xbone has so much memory dedicated to the OS

The PS4 has FreeBSD which is known to be a very streamlined, stable and less memory hungry OS compared to WinBloat

Steambox is the more interesting to me as I could do much more with it than getting stuck with a proprietary console and upgrade when I like

Actually it could. All you would need is a basic OS that was built for nothing but gaming.

The OP is just ridiculous. There's no denying that consoles are very capable machines, but you can't ignore the numbers. Current PCs are many times more powerful than the PS3. One weak component brings down the overall performance of a system. These are called bottlenecks. The argument in the OP implies that the PS3s other components are so strong that it can still create amazing graphics with such little amounts of ram. That is not how it works. The reason games can still look pretty good on the PS3 is because the software engineers know exactly what they have to work with and design their engines to put the console to optimum use. Consoles are barely ever top of the line, but they always seem like for the reason mentioned above.

But if you need hard evidence to see the inferiority of the PS3, then just look at games such as Crysis 3. There's no contest. If you think there is than you are just in denial.
