Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are you mad that Smash Bros Wii U is not Smash Bros Melee 2.0?

As we all should know by now, Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS will be faster paced than  the more casual Smash Bros Brawl, but will be slower than the more hardcore Smash Bros Melee. This made a lot of people happy knowing that the floaty  gameplay  of Brawl won't return in Smash Bros Wii U... People became even happier when they heard that you could do combos ( This was said by Sakurai)

However, some Smash Bros Melee fanatics went ape shit when they found out that  L-cancelling will most likely not be in Smash Bros Wii U..... Even more when they found out that SBWIIU will use the airdodge from Brawl which means that wavedashing goes bye-bye.... A good chunk  of the Melee fans  also hated the Brawl airdodge because it could be used  multiple times in the air and because doing combos was impossible thanks to a weird glitch..

Combos will be in Smash Bros Wii U, but other problems of the Brawl airdodge will still be in Smash Bros Wii U.... Dash dancing which is an awesome mechanic will most likely return, because tripping ( the  best  fucking mechanic ever in a fighting game) is not going to be in the next Smash Bros game..

What do you think? Are you mad that Smash Bros 4 is not gonna be a Melee clone or are you happy that Smash Bros Wii U will bring out a nice balance between the two games?

No. I hated SSB Melee. Brawl was way better. Anyway, none of them are close to the original N64 one. I want SSB 64 2.0, that is. My biggest issues with Brawl and Melee are that the ambient is always trying to kill you. Of course, on N64 you got some dangers on the environment, but they got crazy. Sometimes on Brawl I stop trying to fight and just try to survive to a level that is rotating, exploding stuff, jumping and going nuts. Another problem is that all attacks are slow because they have length animations, I feels like input lag, but is actually just an animation problem.

I'm hoping that the fact that it will be cross-platform with a 3DS version will made them put less killing things on screen thinking about a less cluttered ambient for a smaller screen.

That's always a possibility.. We just have to wait and see what happens.

Melee was too fast paced.

I guess you are going to love Smash  Bros 4 since it is slower than Melee, but faster than Brawl.

People who hated Brawl were just mad that they couldn't use their game-abusing strategies anymore- Brawl was far superior

A lot of them were... However, a lot of them were also mad for legit reasons like not being able to do combos and the   game being very slow.
