Anyone else experiencing stores shoving the Xbox One in your face?

Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else experiencing stores shoving the Xbox One in your face?

I used to work for a high end retailer, and there was a period where I used to get AUD$10 from Sony every time I successfully pushed one of their new cameras onto people. So it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. Give retail workers an incentive to push your product, the sales of your product go up.

I don't know about stores but in shopping centres I've noticed a lot of Xbox One adverts in the electronic display boards around the place (this is in Australia), and next to none for the PS4, so it definitely seems MS are spending big on advertising (understandably). Could be similar in stores through retailer margin incentives.

Actually yesterday I saw at bigw that they are selling the Xbox One at $578 (its usually $599 in Aus) whilst the PS4 is still $548, so maybe MS is offering more retailer margin that Sony, which BigW are passing on to the customer to get more sales. Its definitely the first time I've seen either console sell for less than the official price.

Microsoft did with the 360 and they will do it with the Xbox One. Sony doesn't need to resort to that even though I think they should be at least half as aggressive as Microsoft in marketing.

Amazing how different Sony acts globally. In Germany Sony is omnipresent. TV ads, sponsorings everywhere, making people believe multiplats only come out for Playstation systems.

It's like in my country since PS2, (PS2,PSP,PS3 and PSV) are allaways recomended by retail to costumers, that's why it is Sonyland here, because even when i talk about buying nintendo or xbox stuff, retailers allaways try to perceive me buying playstation products that happened in stores like Fnac, Worten, GAME, Toys'r'us

The forums told me that Sony don't advertise their products, so you must be making that part up.

I've not seen any myself but Playstation Vita adverts make sense. Sony have plenty to sell.

In the UK for commercials and adverts MS probably spends 20 times the money as Sony and Nintendo combined.
