Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else experiencing stores shoving the Xbox One in your face?

Because I certainly have, go to best buy and see a massive xbox one banner and them asking me "you want the xbox one?!?". Go to Toys r Us, same thing happening. Even the same massive banner lol. Microsoft must been spending millions on advertising or something because all these stores keep yelling at me to buy one, XD. Maybe they expected sellouts and its not..really selling out?

I heard it was really bad at Toys R Us.  Like 90% Xbox One, and 10% PS4.  The only PS4 game there was COD.

Also I went to Best Buy today and there were several stacks of Xbox Ones.  No PS4's in sight...

The margin on the Xbox One is far higher than PS4. Microsoft have a lot more money to play with, with regard marketing and incentive schemes for retailers. PS4 is a technically much more powerful console sold at a lower price. I don't know about stores but where I go on the web the Xbox One marketing is far more common. There is simply no way I'm paying £430 or anywhere close to it for a console as weak as Xbox One though. My buying price is more like £200-250 which is fair considering PS4 is £350. So all these Xbox One adverts are wasted on me.

Also I think Sony have limited ps4 stock so excessive marketing is wasted money. However there is still a lot of Xbox One stock and probably easier to replenish as the console doesn't have any cutting edge components like GDDR5 that might be in limited supply.

Damn right I am. It's normally impossible for me to leave a Gamestop empty-handed but this employee on Thursday pushed Xbox One at me so hard, I got the fuck outta there. Felt like I was being molested.

MS always rather spend more money marketing devices and "sell" it too you than on actually designing the device to be superior and sell itself.

this thread makes me think some people aren't living in reality but when the enter a games store it's a Microsofted themed episode of the walking dead... You know you can say no thanks to a store clerk if he offers you help with your shopping right? Loads of stores themselves do just hire people to direct customers to the good Christmas presents this year, Nothing to do with Microsoft.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Only thing I have encountered is dedicated Microsoft employee at my Best Buy. He was nice, but of course he is promoting his companies product. I listened to him explain how Kinect makes it an all in one entertainment device for the future of gaming. I just said no thank you and he did the same selling to next person. I will say the X1 is more prominent I. Its placement.

I haven't noticed any PS4 or Xbones in the shops nor have I seen any advertisement here.

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

im pretty sure the corporations are paid (bestbuy, futureshop, toysrus) which pay the managers pennies to tell employees this. single stores do not go and do stuff without being told to with money especially with 1 product alone it would be a waste of time... so the lower employees see none of the money while the others are seeing it..

For me, saying "No, I'm good" wasn't an option.  Maybe the lady was a new employee or something and lacked people skills.  I know her manager was looking at her because I know him from past experience and he was like ten feet behind us.  Maybe she was under pressure.  She pushed Xbox One at me like it was her vagina and he was her pimp.  I told her I was okay and she'd walk a few feet away and then come back to say something she forgot.  I don't know about anybody else but that was my experience.  I even posted it elsewhere a couple of days ago.

I was actually just looking for a used copu of Splinter Cell for the Wii U and slowly browsing as I made my way to the Wii U section.  I didn't even get it.

these console war topics are becoming hilarious
