Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else experiencing stores shoving the Xbox One in your face?

Because I certainly have, go to best buy and see a massive xbox one banner and them asking me "you want the xbox one?!?". Go to Toys r Us, same thing happening. Even the same massive banner lol. Microsoft must been spending millions on advertising or something because all these stores keep yelling at me to buy one, XD. Maybe they expected sellouts and its not..really selling out?

Microsoft doesn't skimp when it comes to advertising. It helps that the xbox one is in demand as well though.

There must be some kind of commission system Microsoft offered for the One. Haven't been to the stores much so couldnt tell ya.

Never worked in retail before, are the workers told to advertise certain products like this?

No, but they sure do shove PS4 in my face.

I work at Best Buy and we do not get commission, but we tell people we have Xbox One's available.... but I don't get in trouble if I don't sell them (I do if I don't sell those stupid Geek Squad "protection" plans or credit cards with the Xbox One though!). I sold quite a few Xbox Ones today actually.

our gamestop seems to have 2 Sony fanboys working in it, see um just going on about the ps4 as the 2nd coming of christ and getting people to pre order one even tho they've not got stock in for sure until feb next year...

I really doubt MS have a part in this, they would ofc give big banners around to stores to advertise their new system, but you gotta remember that a lot of workers in game stores are big fans of certain consoles themselves, it doesn't take MS giving you cash to praise their machine and want it to do well, after the last gen there are 80million or so 360 owners who want the X1 to do as well as it can.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

In my country people pay for premium shelf space. Probably the same in the US.

Microsoft did with the 360 and they will do it with the Xbox One. Sony doesn't need to resort to that even though I think they should be at least half as aggressive as Microsoft in marketing.

No. I'm usually the one shoving things in people's faces.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

Yes, Microsoft obviously pays each and every employee that works at some sort of an electronic retail store to push the Xbox One.
