Forums - Sales Discussion - So how bad is Xone looking to beat PS4 in Dec NPD/USA sales?

I could be wrong but it doesn't look to me like XB1 is selling too well, but that's just based on my anecdotal experience.

  • Anecdote 1: I have been trying to sell an unopened Xbox One - Day One on Craigslist for a week and no takers, even though I'm asking below retail price.
  • Anecdote 2: On Saturday I was at Toys R Us and they had XB1 in stock with a big sign at the entrance. There was a queue stretching half way around the store to check out. I didn't see anyone with a XB1.
  • Anecdote 3: Today Amazon had XB1 in stock and from what I observed it sold 40 units in 4+ hours. A few days ago the PS4 sold over 700 units in 4 hours.
  • Anecdote 4: On eBay you can tell from sold listings that PS4 is selling 4.5X more units than XB1.

Ofcourse Amazon + eBay are going to be less important to XB1 since it's in stock in a lot of stores, but still those are some significant gaps.

Anyhow, I live in a big metro area and Craigslist is usually a great place to sell stuff.  I have listed things like a TV or a car and sold them in a day.  The inability to sell an XB1 priced below retail makes me suspect the $500 price tag is stopping people from rushing out to buy XB1s.

@fallen, ps3 is ahead in lifetime sales with a shorter lifespan than 360, and ps4 is 500,000 or so ahead of the Xbox one, with a ONE WEEK head start not ten months. there are no ps4's to be seen, you're nutty...

Sory my friend. But, were you here or at NeoGaf at BlackFriday week?

We were flooded if claimes like yours of terrible was for Xbox One been in stock... well, other anedocts follow the next 2 weeks and for the US Xbox One out-sold PS4 almost close to 2 to 1.

Corollary: The best seller tec products of this hollydays are the iPad Air and iPhones, none of which are ever out of stock.

anecdote 5 : PS4 is 6th and X1 18th in 2013 best seller list on Amazon , meaning PS4 sold much much much better than X1 on Amazon

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I think the sales of PS4 is bigger than Xbone in December... the difference is that Xbone receive little units shipment every time and PS4 a big shipment in a long time.... in terms of units the PS4 receive more.

Another point is that Xbone is not getting sold out even with few units shipments while PS4 get sold out fast even with big shipments.

PS4 will own the  Xbox One no doubt, but I am not sure if  it is going to be total ownage.

iPad Air/iPhone are always sellng more than consoles, wether they are in stock or not so I don't think it's a useful example.

I could be wrong no doubt about it, but the stock availability is much clearer today than it was in BF week.  In BF week online trackers showed nothing (even if some anecdotes said otherwise).  Now XB1 is easy to find online, anyone can do it :).

My assumption is that the growing in-stock availability is a sign of decreasing demand, so if XB1 sold 179K in 1st week of Dec I think it could be down to 130K 2nd week.  In 3rd week I'm unsure.  I think a lot were sold in brick & mortar stores over the past weekend, but I'm dumbfounded that nobody is buying them on Craigslist.

Oh my God! this is too funny: "I hope Xone wins..... I wish for it with all my heart"

Well, if thuway' s numbers are correct for the 2nd week, Sony has Dec wrapped up like a Xmas present. I mean that doesn't even include Wal-Mart's largest shipment ever AND Amazon's huge shipment they got last week.

I also hope people realize that out of the 1M+ Sony ships each month, the vast majority of that is going to the US. Has anyone even heard of mass restocking outside of the US? I know I haven't.  Only that they will become available next year.

BTW, my local Target got in 16 PS4s last friday, around 6 am (I thought about getting one but I didn't want them giving away my credit card info like everyone else's). They lasted until 1 pm, I went by after 9 pm and they did still had 7 XB1s... so, no pretty sure PS4 has December in the bag.
