Forums - Sony Discussion - Breaking! PS4 Digital Management = xb1 family share!

Unlikely that it would've worked this way, and unlikely that it will on PS4.

The only opportunities I see for digital rights is for you to be able to play your digital library on any or a limited number on PS4 IF and WHEN you're logged in.

The other ways which is the future is probably about lending (for a limited period, to a limited number of person, and you'll probably not be able to play it while you lend it) and selling back your digital games with a fixed price (the as the discounted/reduced prices of the PSN store), with a service fee and a limited number of time (you'll probably be able to sell an original game once).

You might also be able to sell your save datas and trophies to justify an extended price, but it could become nightmare like a DLC, Season Pass, even Microtransaction regulated market.

Nothing better than a physical CD for that.

I remember a report from an "insider" on this that said that the XBone family share plan was actually just ~60 minute demos of the games in your library.

Otherwise lots of people would download games and give them out to 10 people and drastically reduce potential sales.

That's not true. A MS exec confirmed it was full games shared with 10 people in a "Family" list.

sure, "full games" in that all the assets of the game are on your console. You still only get to play 60 minutes of it. It's like PS+s "full game trial" where the "full game" is on your HDD, so you can play any aspect of it, but once the timer hits 60:00:0, you don't get to play anymore

There was never a final official plan for the family share, so it is pretty pointless to argue about it.  Citing one insiders unconfirmed information to combat anothers unconfirmed insider information is just going to go nowhere...

PS+ is not family sharing. So why compare them? Plus look at Ryuu96

There was no time limit, Marc Whitten and Aaron Greenberg confirmed this, Original post that Marc Whitten replied to was "would the original family share have had only offered time-limited access to games for family members?"

Well, my bad. It was CBOAT that said it on GAF, but I guess it was wrong

But then again, they only said this after their game sharing was nixed. They never explained how it worked when they were touting it as a great reason to get an XBone. You can't say "it was as we described" when they never described it

The same person that said MS was suffering from yield issues? Yeaaaaah that's credible.

I never said PS+ was family sharing. I was comparing XBLs "family sharing" with PS+s "full game trials" with regard to how "full games" are applied. It was made clear by Sony how their plan worked and was dubious at best when MS described their plan, but at the end of the day, CBOAT said you get the "full game" because it's completely on your HDD, so you can play any aspect of the game, but it cuts off after an hour, like PS+s trials go.

But I responded to Ryuu96 and conceded since it was sourced from Greenberg, although I'm still skeptical that you could just give out 10 whole games with no consequence, especially because MS never said you could do that. They were always vague until after what CBOAT said spread over the internet/media after game sharing was eliminated, and were still vague, actually, in the end. From Ryuu96s post, Greenberg said "it was as we described it" but they never adequately described how it worked

And yet, he's one of the more cited and trusted GAF users on this site. But hey, he loses all credibility if he's wrong about 1 or 2 aspects of the XBone, right? Unless, of course, his news is positive, then he's the most credible guy ever

When has his news ever been positive?

no its true! all u have to do is be on psn and you can then share the game with that friend at his own house. Just another reason why ps+ is so valuable.

I know this part is true... but the family sharing wasn't about sharing any game with 10 family members any way you fancy??? I'm sure I'll use this feature even as it is in PS+
