Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Official: Do Not Buy DLC/Microtransactions Thread

I'm sort of with you.

But i do consider some DLC worth it. I mean the idea behind it is to make more game for those that want more game is in itself a great idea. What isnt is the way this gets abused by publishers that instead of doing that, cut slices from the games to later sell as DLC.

I would say i like the elder scrolls/Fallout DLC. From what i hear the GTA4 DLC was good aswell. Despite beeing ripped off with day one DLC on Mass effect 3, the DLC for Mass effect has been enjoyable aswell.
Despite all the overeactions i think Street Fighter 4 did quite well with later versions of the game with more goodies. It was stuff developed after the game released.

So, NO to DLC, unless its done right and the way it was originally envisioned.

Never bought. I always wait for GOTY Editions.

Sounds like you hate the way developers add DLC achievements/trophies to the lists, lowering your completion percentage whether you buy the DLC or not, more than you hate the DLC itself.

And that is perfectly logical. I have a Borderlands 2 platinum and I think my trophy shows I completed like 60% of the game. Fuck that, it should be added when/if I buy the DLC.

All extremes are bad. On disk DLC are bad, but basically a dlc is a bonus, a feature, and a gift from the devs who still work on a game if it has justify it's budget by making more content from the fans who permitted here.

As I always said (mostly on FF threads tough), fans are whores.

Lots of DLC is really good. No problem with buying outfits for example in LBP.

I'm apposed to most paid DLC though. I am super against micro transactions in paid titles though.

I'll be with you until Nintendo decides to release Mario Kart/Pokemon DLC. Then I'm out.

I don't see the problem.

DLC and Micro transactions are what makes most games profitable. If they don't have them, the sequels won't come either.

It is near the end of the end....

Screw DLC, screw microtransactions. I refuse to buy either who's with me???

I'm with you.  Unless it's been free, I haven't downloaded any DLC.  I also very rarely purchase digital copies.

I don't mind DLC as long as they expect to release a GotY edition in the future.  My least favorite kind of DLC is that planned prerelease bullshit.  DLC that is being developed on or planned prior to launch, forcing you to purchase additional content to get the full experience.

Never bought DLC or paid a single microtransaction.
I always buy Gold or GotY versions with all the DLC included and for a fraction of the price anyway.
