Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you (like to) beat your games 100%: Or "Are you hardcore enough?"

If by 100% you mean 'collect every meaningless flag, star, or trinket for no real reason' then no - for example those dumb flags in AC can stay unfound.

But I do finish pretty much every game I purchase - a rare exception was Dark Messiah on PC where I got a crashing but near the end a few times and since the game was only okay and not great I just figured I couldn't be bothered to continue.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

@Munkeh111:

I wouldn't dount Rol. He's a gaming prodigy. He's the only guy I know that can fly through Mario Galaxy and Metroid Wii as fast as he did. Rol needs to play Ninja Gaiden.

It's usually never worth it to get 100% in games I play unless I actually own them. Since I've been renting a lot, getting that 100% is doing all the extra crap in a game so I'd rather just send it back and get something else.

By saying Ninja Gaiden you mean the new one for Xbox and not the old NES game, right?

I beat the Xbox one a few times over the course of two years, but only on the lowest difficulty setting. It's not the type of game I really enjoy much, that's why I didn't bother to play it more. I stopped playing the first DMC after three hours (I blame the camera angles), only beat God of War once. But out of these games, I liked Ninja Gaiden definitely the most.

I was talkin more about Sigma, but the Xbox version counts, too. What game was the hardest for you to complete on the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube? Did you ever beat SA2:B 100%?

I'm more like the casual gamer, and yet I finish every game I like (which is nearly every one I bought) to 100 %.
If I find out that I don't like a game I bought, I finish it, but not to 100 %.
I play mostly JRPG though.
Sometimes, I don't finish the game 100 %, just close enough (e.g. I have done everything in Skies of Arcadia Legends, but must have missed a treasure chest, as I had found 99 %, or perhaps it was a bug as some part of this game crashed on the Wii).

Must be why it takes usually far more than 100 hours to finish myy JRPG.

I only do it for the games i love... 100%...

But most of the time, 80 or 90% of a game is enough, i don't need to find ALL the collectibles or to do ALL the sidequests... if i see the end of the story, that's ok, i'm happy...

I've finished Galaxy with 242 stars, so that's a sure 100% ! And Twilight Princess, i think 90% complete, never done one of the sidequest ...

For RPG's, it depends on the story and the combat system... no problem with Skies of Arcadia or Baten Kaitos by example, but if i find a game too boring, if the story is too simplistic or too "kiddy" for my taste, i don't force myself, and i sell it in secondhand shops... i only keep my favorite games, usually...

Lately, i've finished Paper Mario on VC, don't think it was 100% with all the badges and items, but it was cool like that... and now i'm tryin FF VI for the first time on GBA, i've played half of it, but i'm not too sure i'll even finish it, too many random fights in some areas, sometimes i just get bored... i'll try to go to the end of the story, but won't try to find all the espers, or do all the eventual sidequests, that's for sure...

Next one: Metroid Prime 3, just got it today... i'll finish it for sure, that's all i can say, lol...

"A beautiful drawing in 480i will stay beautiful forever...

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

I play games until they aren't fun anymore. Usually that doesn't involve beating them 100%.

Of course i'm also "No online advice" guy. So any 100% in any decent game should be near impossible to get first time anyway.

i'll finish a game 100% but in a collection feast game i won't care if i happen to miss a heart container or whatever.

I won't usually go out of my way to finish a game 100% but I'll try and do as much as I can on the first pass
