Where'd this "2 games a year" falsity come from?

Some of us can't count past that.

You know, I vowed never to post in this guy's threads again but I had to congratulate you on this post.

But since I'm here anyway...

OT:  Of course Nintendo needs 3rd party support - they're just not as reliant on it as their competitors are.

nintendo should buy crapcom. they have good IPs and they are broke, buy em, fire all the fucktards, make the games exklusiv and get all the old games on the E-shop... that would help a lot.
wii u would have a bunch of mature exklusivs and would be the console u have to buy for retro gaming...

and get a deal with sega for the E-shop. shouldnt be so expensiv.

I like how toastboy hasn't even responded.

Well for one thing, who has ever argued that Nintendo DIDN'T need third party support? Certainly not Nintendo themselves, ever.

But for another, Nintendo first party games DO tend to be the software that pushes Nintendo's own hardware. But third party support IS important, and with system sales, you have to believe it'll steadily come back. Wii U had one of the most robust launch lineups in gaming history, the support was there. It just dried up when system sales dried up.

I have! Of course, 3rd party support can only help, but I don't think Nintendo "needs" their support.

Also, currently the support from 3rd Partys is still there for Wii U, well except from EA. The problem is as you said, it's 1st party that sells their consoles, and they went 8 months without a Nintendo made game.

Nintendo needs 3rd parties to fill the gaps in their library. Having arguably the best game in many genres does nothing for the guy that wants to play WWE, Golf, NBA, JRPG, etc. Nintendo gamers love Nintendo's games but a guy like me needs a variety.

When the megadrive struggled in its early years, Sega said "Screw it" and established studios to make those kinds of games for themselves.

Nintendo could do that too.

Thus the 'industry' decided to punish Sega later on, when Sega was no longer needed. Sad thing is, Sega's exit from consoles left a gap that has never been replaced. If M$ or Sony bit the dust, things would largely remain the same, because Samsung or any other corporate conglomerate could take there place. But dedicated console makers? Only 1 left. And the industry has been trying to make Nintendo irrelevant for decades.  Fortunately for them, Nintendo is doing a better job at it than they could have.

Nintendo is the only one out of the big 3 that can survive and thrive without third parties. Imagine how long the Playstation would last if it had to rely on Sony's first party. It'd get ugly quick. M$ as well is third party reliant. That is dangerous because third parties are only as loyal as their wallets.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
