Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Platinum Games Creative Director is Fed Up With Bayonetta 2 port begging

ethomaz said:
I agrre that this game will never go out Wii U but how this director talks is silly and unprofessional.

What the problem if the fans ask for a port? Even if is close to 0% to happen the fans can ask what they wanted... I see no issue here like I never saw any issue with Xbox fans asking for MGS4 to Konami.

He have do be glad that these fans ar following the game and maybe some even buy a Wii U for the game.

This is not the fisrt time this guy looks arrogant.

I agree with him being unprofessional and silly but he has a rigjt. After all the meltdowns, he was getting death threats, etc.

Ignorant fanboys -_- I swear some people still dont realize no nintendo = no Bayo2...

(Just an Ex:)If Zelda would never be made by nintendo again and went go M$ platforms, i be very grateful i can play it rather than cry about it knowing nintendo would never make one ever again

So it's evil to make the game in the first place if you're not making it on the EXACT platform people would prefer it on.

And it's childish and unprofessional to point out that you're aware of the wish for the game to be on that specific platform and that after a year and a half can we talk about something else, please.

The Internet is the WORST place.

It could at some point, but after Sega cancelled support to Platinum due to financial problems, the future was dim and uncertain for many of their projects. They just couldn´t refuse Nintendo´s offer to publish it. Better safe than sorry, right ?

Well, how the situation unfolds, it would be safe and sorry now.

Why sorry? Platinum is getting paid to develop the game. If it´s a flop the losses will be all of Nintendo. If it sells well both companies take the profits. From a business point of view, that was the best decision they could take.

It was this or cancel the project and proceed with lay-offs

That's why sorry.

Besides if it is a flop, Platinum will be affected as well. I doubt they would not get a part of the share if it makes profit. If they don't earn money to make their next game, then they will proceed with layoffs. I suppose it was the best deal they could get at the time, but don't tell me they will be happy if it flops.

And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Do these people realise that Nintendo owns the rights to Bayonetta 2?

Whinging to Platinum CAN'T make a difference, as they don't have the power to decide to port it to other systems. It's not difficult.

If you care that much just buy a Wii U, and get W101 whilst you're at it; it's a great game that deserves to be played.

You either own the IP or you don't. You don't just "own the rights" to one particular title in a series. And just because Nintendo published and funded the game doesn't mean that it will remain exclusive. Look at Mass Effect 1. MS published and funded that game, but it ended up on PS3 because the IP switched to a new publisher. MS didn't own anything with ME. Gears could end up on a PS console as well, if Epic Games strikes a deal with a different publisher, and they could retroactively place the whole Gears series on a PS console if they saw it as profitable (probably not). Same could happen with Bayonetta 2.

That being said, at this moment in time, this game is being published and funded by Nintendo, so right now, people need to just stfu and get a WiiU if they want it so bad. To ask them to port it isn't simply a matter of coding the game for PS and Xbox. They have to get a different publisher who will OK multiplatform development, have a financial plan, etc. etc. that goes into game development. It may be simple to port it, but so much more goes into something like that. Only reason ME appeared on PS is because EA straight up bought BioWare. To want Bayonetta 2 to appear on PS and Xbox is to either ask Platinum Games to get bought out (which happens, but isn't cool to wish upon independent developers, unless they want it) by a company that does multiplatform games across the board or for them to jump through the hoops of getting a different publisher after the game has already been mad. Either way, I don't think the gains would outweigh the cost in either situation.

So, TL;DR get a WiiU is you want this game right now

At the same time, I wouldn't advise holding out for a port announcement just because it could possibly happen.

The grown up man children are still begging for a port i see. The initial rage from "hardcore" gamers is still the highlight of my time on forums. Kinda makes everything else worth it and the nerd rage continues.

That's the people begging for a port.

YEah punish the consumer, its worked well for Nintendo.

It's not punishing the consumer. Punishing  the consumer would be turning down Nintendo's offer so the game never gets made.

Yeah, I dont have enought time to waste to help remove the nintendo goggles. People want to play games on systems they have or will get. I know its a travisty. Shame on US.

Should have got more people to buy Bayonetta on Xbox 360 and PS3 then. The reason SEGA canned it was because they didn't think it was worth the effort of a sequel.

Nintendo then came along and bought a DEAD/KILLED/CANCELLED game that WOULD NEVER BE RELEASED. Then whiney entitled gamers feel they're being screwed over by the dev who have been given the opportunity to give dedicated Bayonetta fans the sequel they have been wanting.

People who really care about the games enough buy the systems that those games are on. It's not like Wii U is going to cost more than $150 or so by the time it comes out the way it's currently performing.

It's not rocket science. Bayonetta 2 exclusively on Wii U funded by Nintendo to ensure the game happens is infinitely better than game not happening at all.

These are the only 2 options which were available. There was never an option for a PS3/360 or PS4/ONE version of the game because nobody was prepared to fund it.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I would be happy if gamers want my game on their system but this is good advertisement though =p.

Such a shame its only going to be on Wii U Where it will flop badly. Not worth getting a Wii U for. But would definitely buy it if it were on Xbox One.

A lot of things "could have happened". Microsoft "could have" sold Halo to Sony. A meteorite "could have" fallen on your head before you could finish typing that comment. Bayonetta 1's performance didn't exactly inspire confidence, as Sega declined to publish #2. Games like Bayonetta generally don't get sequels.

And with third party support for Wii U very limited, I doubt Nintendo regret publishing it; it gives them one more exclusive to trumpet without having to divert one of their teams to make it.

The decision to publish this was made a long time ago, when they had different ideas of the Wii U performance. Once it is all said and done it may not turn out to be the best desicion they made.

Besides, the guy complaining about the begging may be looking back later on how many people wanted the game, when he finds out how many actually bought it.

Bayo's a niche game, Nintendo knew from the moment they acquired it that it would not set the charts alight. They purchased it to add a gory, sexy "hardcorez" title that was missing from their exclusive lineup, not with any expectation of the game itself selling millions.

And since Nintendo are paying for it, Platinum don't need to worry about how much it sells.

But this is not how it works. It's not enough to get paid for the game you make. You also need to make a profit from the sales so you can finance the development of your next game.

You know, like Nintendo is financing this game with the profits they made from the Wii.
