Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Platinum Games Creative Director is Fed Up With Bayonetta 2 port begging

pokoko said:
Platinum Games had better become a satellite for Nintendo because the way they're treating their (former?) fanbase is unprofessional. I'm kind of glad I didn't like Bayonetta.

Hey, Platinum, you know some of these people bought your game, which was one of the worst ports ever made, and they're still loyal to you?

He didn't insult the fans, he insulted the beggars. It should have been made clear by the end of September last year that the game wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Nintendo, and thus won't be appearing elsewhere, and that's the end of it.

Though i have to wonder how many of the "beggars" at this point aren't just trolling Platinum to get more overreactions from Kamiya and others.

Gold! Nail in the head man. This apply to Ninja gaiden and Deus EX too. All selled equaly bad across all plattaforms. The wiiu version was the lead on most of then(for like 100 copies, but since it was the more epensive, this could mean something)

WOW realy, i try to explain is simple terms. It was a game owned by TECMO.

Nintendo own Bayonetta 2 game now and forever, it will be always belong to Nintendo and Nintendo alone.

Sega owning the Bayonetta IP has no impact on this at all. It dosnt matter if Sega sell the IP or whoever owns it.

This is why the begging is so stupid.  I cant believe people are so stupid they still need these things explained in explicit details.

Yea, owned by Tecmo, published by Microsoft. Just how Bayonetta 2 is owned by Sega, published by Nintendo. Hate to break it to you, but Nintendo doesn't own Bayonetta 2, they are just funding it at the moment. I guess that's the real point that you're missing.  Just like how Microsoft didn't own Ninja Gaiden 2, they just funded the development. The situation is EXACTLY the same. I don't know how you don't understand it. There are no "explicit details" needed. Only reason it's only on Nintendo is because Nintendo is publishing it. If Sega wanted to publish it, they could, and put it wherever they want. Nintendo can't tell Sega what to do with their game, if Sega, at some point, wants to get involved. To say that Sega owning Bayonetta has no impact is tantamount to me saying "you may own that shirt, but you can't wear it"

Does Microsoft own Mass Effect 1? BioWare owned the IP, but that had no impact, right? Doesn't matter if they sell the IP or whoever owns it (EA now). It will always belong to Microsoft and Microsoft alone, right? Microsoft didn't need to own the IP, just that one game, right?

If you can't see how that situation and the one with B2 aren't identical, then you are just blind. And it's derailing the thread too. All I said was that it's possible, through some changes behind the scenes, for this game to go multiplat, however, to do so requires a lot of work and going multi may not be justified. So get a WiiU if you want to play it.

Actually, is more like Resident Evil 0/Remake situation. They never stoped to begging for a port for PS2, but it never came. Hell, there is people begging for a hd port for ps3 yet. Owned by capcom, funded by nintendo. Microsoft has a different contract than nitnendo, they are not all equal, you know?

Besides, platinum is in better position with nitnendo then without it. Bayonetta is actualy one of their few hits, and i think that MG:R only made success because of the licensed IP.

About kamya, he's just like this, some time ago some folks started a joke about their mon on twitter, and he said the exactily same thing. Even nitnendo was kinda of nevous of approach kamiya because of his fame as "twitter god".

Still, i'm still port beggin various game to wiiu. Dugeonland, Starcraft 2, Thief/Tomb Raider. I'm ok with people port begging platinum too. Its free of speech, nintendo fans do this too, more than anybody actually, you should not criticize them for doing the same.

Yet, so far i still don't see anything about this game that is impressive. Even some textures on bayonetta itself look pale. Some particle effect looks pretty sparse too. Platinum needs to understand that their game must be jaw dropping if they want to get people to buy a wiiu just for this game, and so far, i still think that is much more work to do.

The game was literally ripped from the hands of the consoles of where the true fans are. Wont sell on Nintendo, but for those who are true fans of Bayonetta they should pick it up and at least play it on a friends house. The Wii U wont bite. For those without Wii U, there are plenty of other third party games on the other consoles to really even care but really? Seriously. Aggrivating people over spilled milk is stupid. Theres nothing you can do about Nintendo publishing the game.

like FF? or sonic?  or shenmue?

And yet, Ninja Gaiden 2 appeared on PS3, despite being "basically a Microsoft game, developed by Team Ninja, using a license from Tecmo". Just because something like this "doesn't make sense" doesn't mean it hasn't happened before.

when has Nintendo  ever sold their publishing rights for a game? if they didn't sell the Goldeneye 64 publishing rights to Rare/Microsoft, they sure as hell aren't selling the Bayonetta 2 rights.

Just to explain my point a little better...

I work for a big software company... so I deal with a lot of customers asking for things impossible to be made in the system they use (and we do support or enhancements)... that's it some request are impossible to be delivered working in the actual system/platform (the customer needs to upgrade or move to another system/platform).

But that didn't make the customer stop to request these silly features impossible to happen in this scenario.

I go and say to the customer that I don't want them to request more these things? I get mad because that? No. Using the best smile in my face I go and deal with the costumer explaining to it why it is impossible and give him other alternatives to his problems.

The costumer understand but they stop to ask the same thing? No. Because I'm here to listen to them even if I don't want to.

I think that's the same for a game developer... except the costumer are the gamers.

He seems silly and unprofessional... arrogant to be sure.

Has he ever considered the fact that people may just be trolling him?

After I read I similar article a few months ago, I started "port begging" myself.

That´s it. Rayman Legends sold a better on WiiU than on the other platforms , proving that all those screwing was not justified.

Still, we must understand that Ubisoft took, at the same time, a good and a bad decision. Sales forecasts for the WiiU version were not good, so going multiplatform would well increase their profit chances, but delaying the WiiU version and putting the game directly to compete with GTA, CoD Ghosts, Pikmin 3 was a dumb idea. The result: poor sales in every platform. http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=rayman+legends If they had released the game on its original schedule, it would sell better and still would make a little more with the other versions later.

To that, I say, QQ more. If people truly want to play the game, they'll figure out a way to play it whether they buy a Wii U or not, harassing the creator like little whinny bitch ass kids that deserve to get fucking smacked gets the result of a properly justifiable "fuck you" from him. If people can't be bothered with the game just because it's on a "Nintendo Platform" then they obviously don't truly give a flaming fuck about the game and just belong to the crowd that like to voice their worthless opinions on a "VIDEO GAME!"

The problem is that Bayonetta is a unique case of a famous PS360 franchise switching sides and staying exclusive. It's not that easy to accept since Rayman and Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor Edge were ported quickly.

Deal with it Platinum Games. This is what you get when you suddenly make a sequel to a game now exclusive which started off as multiplatform; let alone the exclusive is for a completely different/new console so you'll have hate from fans of the previous consoles the original was on. If it was exclusive to 360 or PS3 then you'd only be dealing with the hate from one side, but now you got both.

Hey, i just remenber a thing. Michael pacther itself said he would problably pick up a wiiu just to play this game, since he was a bayonetta fan. Maybe this explains all negativity toward the console from him xD
