I can't beleive Wii U was able to go from 2,000 to 50,000 in Japan. It's a Christmas miracle!

It also shows 3D World's sales. This game should be at 800k+ on the next update, and 1 million by the end of this year is practically gaurenteed. New Super Luigi U might also get 1 million by the end of the year, counting digital sales.

There are no miracles here. The only reason Wii U was doing 2k a week was because people were waiting for that Wii Party U bundle. That's when the big sales started. Now we have Super Mario 3D World and now this Dragon Quest special.

Yet were talking about a new console.

PS3 didn't hit 48k in Japan the first two weeks of December 2007, nor a single week of December 2008. I'd say 48k the first week of December during its first second Holiday season is pretty nice for the Wii U, and far from "pathetic."

Dude, don't bring up the PS3.

The reason it didn't propel to success immediately was the fact that it was handled badly.

...and this somehow makes a PS3/Wii U comparison less reasonable?

When I mean "badly" I mean asymptotically terrible! That's how badly the PS3 was handled LOL. Sony was about to crash the playstation brand. Thankfully enough sony managed to get the PS3 out of the rut and started fixing up the system which I doubt nintendo is capable of recovering.

Can anyone here get over my comment.

It's just one dude over the internet.

Here's a big secret for you: there is such a thing as a wrong opinion. I know you've been told otherwise all of your life, but the people who told you this were wrong (the same people probably always corrected you when you said "me and William" into "William and I", even when the correct form is "William and me").

How can an opinion be wrong? When its based on falsities, fallacies, and misconceptions. In your case, you are trying to judge Japanese sales numbers based on American holidays and American sales patterns. It just doesn't work. In the height of the Wii's success, December 2007, the Wii sold just 113k units in Japan in the first week of December. This was the massively-popular system, in December prior to the massive shift to handhelds, and it sold 113k. In the equivalent week of 2008, when the handheld shift had begun, the Wii sold just 55k, still easily beating the other home consoles.

I buy into the philosophy in which mild doubt and cautious optimism are equally logical.

50K? I though it was somewhere between 45k and 49k

Even though it's a different source, this is the same news as this thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=174176

And since this thread has already been heavily sidetracked, I'm gonna lock it.
