Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do Nintendo fans think the gaming industry will die if nintendo aint leading?

To be honest my love affair with Nintendo kinda stalled a few years ago, wii and its obsession with mini games and motion control meant I switched permanently to Ms and Sony, with my pc used too. No one company not leading has any effect. Sure if one of them quit it would be a bad day, but life goes on games go on and people find new games and consoles to enjoy. Long may it continue, and I hope Nintendo,Sony and Microsoft all stick around.

Proud owner of Ps4/3ds xl/pc/vita/wii u and others.

Gamer till I die

Is there anyone who thinks that way ?

This is just silly. They don´t need to be number 1 to be a financially successfull company.

But take a look on the handheld front where they´re clearly number 1

Sorry but i really dont think people have said that at all...

Maybe 1 or 2 individuals once but i have never seen it here or elsewhere.

Zones : I still don't understand all the love for Blizzard, what was the last game they developed worth playing?

People, there won't be another Video Game Crash - not in the foreseeable future anyways. Sure, we will have bubbles that bursts (rhythm games for example, such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero), and microtransactions will hopefully be such a bubble. If worse comes to worst, the AAA model will burst, but that will not mean another Video Game Crash.

Like others have said, what's happening right now in gaming industry is more what happened the movie industry when the big studios emerged as the only movie makers. Today, we see the emergence of Activision, EA and Ubisoft as the Big Ones, but along side that, we're getting more and more indie studios at the same time.

As long as we have ONE console out on the market we can buy new games for, we'll have a gaming industry.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

"Why do Nintendo fans think the gaming industry will die if nintendo aint leading?"

"But alot of them keep sayin how HD is killing gaming and we are heading for a crash. "

Those two statements are not equivalent. Whether HD is or is not killing gaming does not equate to saying that Nintendo is somehow crucial to the survival of the gaming industry.

Here is my view: I don't believe the gaming industry will die if Nintendo is not leading. I don't think Nintendo, or any other player in the industry, is in itself crucial to the industry as a whole.

BUT I do think that HD gaming is creating a situation where you need to have a large up-front investment in order to create a competitive game, which means that fewer studios are able to create these games. Often, the investment in actors, voice-overs and music also results in a reduced investment in gameplay. So I am in agreement that, to a certain extend, HD gaming is detrimental to the gaming industry (note, I did not say its killing it).

With the inflation of Zimbabwe, then yes. The 'PS2 days' were just a decade ago.

A decade is a significant period for inflation.  In US the official inflation is over 26% since 2000.

In Zimbabwe it's 10000000000000000000000000000% inflation ;)

I sincerely would've expected it to be lower, around the ~15%. And the Zinbabwe part was an obvious joke.

They've never played any other good games so don't realize that while classic Nintendo games were amazing, current and last gen Nintendo games have been average to above average, but not amazing.  They assume if Nintendo games are doing worse, then everything else has got to be doing worse.

Wow, that must be it. You are a genius! I mean, those poor suckers have never tried the awesomeness of teh HD.

If Nintendo dies then gaming dies.
People will get sick of FPS and Racing games one day and they will not have anywhere to turn.

Thank you for portraying the point!

Easy if its all you play. Same for MS and Sony fans. Thats why its best to enjoy all, they will all be affordable for someone at some point, even if they have to wait until its last gen, it will have a huge library and for cheap.

It will not always be like this. Things are always changing.

Because it is normal that the best Gaming-Console Company must be the leader!! Thats the reason. And the best is Nintendo, without compromise. 2nd is Microsoft and on the last place Sony. So its my oppinion

Zelda - Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.... Incredable!!!
