Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do Nintendo fans think the gaming industry will die if nintendo aint leading?

Gaming won't die, it's just being dragged in the wrong direction, with cinematic storytelling, gratuitous violence, and masturbatory graphical spectacle too often prioritized over gameplay.

I think ur confusing Nintendo fans for Nintendo fanboys.

While I dont believe gaming would die without Nintendo, I do believe it would be a harsh blow for the industry but I feel that would happen if Sony/Microsoft left as well.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

You should probably change the title to "Nintendo hardliners" or something, lol!

Nintendo is the cool nerd kid who brings new toys to the parties, and then the bullies laugh at first, just to steal those toys after. The sad cool nerd kid shuts up and remains in the corner until he decides to leave the party earlier and move on, because some assholes stole his moment of glory.

They are not crucial, but they surely contribute a lot with new ideas.

All I have to say is no.

It is more the smarphone fans who believe console will crash

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I would not use the word DIE i would say it would become BORING as hell... it would be like "Hey here is some sports games." "Look at that its the new generic shooter 2548."and then 10 years down the road game designe would be in two fronts, recreations from real world locations and shooting galleries that looks like gray corridors.

Your average "blockbuster" game has become all about these three things, with the gameplay dumbed down so noobs aren't scared off.

I'd rather see games prioritise the whole point of the medium; interactivity.

im a nintendo fan and i dont think it would die just not be as good

To tell if games are truly going in the "wrong direction" is to look at the obvious (sales).

What's the issue with "cinematic storytelling" ? Some games are actually successful with it.

Videogames are mostly about violence so what's the issue here exactly ? Last I heard mortal kombat reboot was well acclaimed and had good sales too.

Consumers will determine if a game is focusing too much on graphics or not and I'm pretty sure this is a non issue.
