Not sure if sarcastic or not...

My girlfriend is red-head and she calls herself a ginger. Heck, she even has a pin on her computer bag that says "Ginger and proud".

Personnaly, i have always prefered ginger over redhead, its a more beautiful word and redhead seems more offensive to my ears than ginger but that's just a personal preference :)

As somebody from Canada, the word ginger is seen as racist up here in the same way as nigger.  Thinking about it more i would say its even worse.

I've always thought that people who are "afraid" of saying ginger or nigger and resort to the "n-word" are deep inside themselves more racist than those who use those words (In a non derogatory way, of course).
