why not just hold on to it? |
I've played all the games that I've wanted. It's been gathering dust over the last month and I'm not going to keep it for a year if I'm not going to use it much.

I didn't last more than 2 months lol for me, the library on the Wii U is really poor at this moment in time. I've got most of the ports on my PS3, a console which I use a lot more and have played all of Nintendo's offerings so far. I'll consider getting one again when there is a much bigger library.

my friend wasnt even a big Ninty fan so he had no buisness getting it in the first place. He got Zombi U which he said was mediocore and Mario just to have something else to play

ZombiU got tedious and Mario, in general, just feels stale now. I bought Lego City to play but even that got boring eventually. I only really enjoyed Wind Waker on the Wii U but I had already played it on GC before.
Good, I don't want them to rush it. They can take as much time as they can afford to to create a masterpiece.

Now, I'm not saying they COULDN'T or WOULDN'T release Smash Bros. close to MK8, I just think it's extremely unlikely, as I think Smash Bros. would be their most desired title to push as the BIG November 2014 holiday release. Your statement that X is just as notable as MK8 is silly. X is (presumably) a sequel/spiritual successor to a niche JRPG which never reached a million copies sold worldwide on a system with a 90 million install base at the time (not hatin' on Xenoblade, you can check out the Top 50 games thread and see that it's my favorite game of all time), and while I personally am looking forward to X more than any other game in 2014, from Nintendo's business perspective, X is simply not going to make them nearly as much money, nor push Wii U systems the way that Smash Bros. and MK8 will. I DO think it is also worth mentioning that Sakurai hinted last E3 that the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash Bros. may not release at the same time. The 3DS version is supposed to let you do some kinds of customization on moves/attacks and characters that could then be carried into the Wii U version. If so, it's likely they would release that version first. Separating them would also help make sure the Wii U version gets its own time in the spotlight, away from the 3DS' much larger audience. So it's certainly a possibility that the 3DS version of Smash could come out fairly close to MK8, though if I had to guess I'd say maybe August or September for that and then again November for the Wii U version.

MK is big but at the same time it is casual (it was perfect for the wii, an affordable console with lots of casual gamers and nostalgia). It is easy to pick up and play for almost any gamers but I don't think that the 32 million mk owner out there is willing to buy a console solely for that game. On the other hand, some people would sale their soul to get Smash or a Xenoblade sequel (the game was under produced and very difficult to get, at my store a used copy of the game sells for 65$, if you find one...). Those wanting these games will buy ANY console that would provide them with those titles. I am not saying that MK won't move wiiu console, but I think that Smash and X can help a lOT to get new gamers on board and once they are in the bandwagon they will probably get a copy of MK in time. I think wouldn't be the other way around. I might be wrong though.

I just came to terms with the fact that business wise they are stupid, because at least as far as game design goes they're still the best. ;)
