Forums - Gaming Discussion - GameCube Controllers

This is a thread for people to comment, suggest, ask and answer questions about GameCube Controllers (Mainly it came up in a discussion about Brawl controls)

Well, it looks like Brawl's just around the corner, and for many Smash Veterans (and newcomers) the best Viable option for control seems to Be a GameCube controller. However, as many may well know, for those who love wireless, Wavebirds are hard to find (I don't think they're in production anymore).

So, what to use? Go ahead, suggest 3rd party controllers, Tell good points, bad, Wired, Wireless, price, where to get... Give all possible details...

Ebay. There, I said it.

I will definitely buy a new gamecube controllers for Brawl. Can't wait until March 9.

I've got the touch!!

i Got 4 from a friend that never played his GC...

So i got lucky bitches..

MadCatz suck ass...try to ebay them

Hi i'm new
Prediction:
EA will buy as many Companies they can,so they can make a super Console that
will have the most exclusive games, and Will win the next GEN

This may be sacriligious, but when Soul Calibur 2 came out, I used a Nyko adapter to play the Gamecube version with a Ps2 controller. It was pretty awesome. I had an advantage over any 'Cube Controller users, that's for sure.

I have 10 cube controllers, 4 wavebirds and 6 regular ones.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

Since I play lots of GC games but never owned a GC, I have bought lots of crappy 3rd party GC controllers.

The Madcatz one broke. It's crap.

The Gamestop one has held up so far. I would even say that its thumbsticks might be better than Nintendo's in terms of usability, especially the C-stick. This is the device which currently gets used for my GC games. I just wish it had an extra metre of cable.

The main problem with any GC controller is the inadequate 2m cable, so I bought a 3rd party wireless controller. I can't even recall the brand name, but the device had a great feature list... and horrible build quality. The thing would be totally tolerable (and worthwhile for allowing me to sit more than 2m from the screen) if the damn thumbstick didn't have centering issues. It just can't find the zero-point, it's always drifting slightly up or down. Worthless.

Let's not forget the final option: The Classic Controller. It's wireless and has all the controls I need to play SSBB, plus it's great for VC titles. This is what I'll probably end up playing Smash with.

dont they sell wired gc controllers at nintendo's online store? I am pretty sure the wired are still in production

Nintendo no longer makes Wavebirds. Personally, I think wavebirds arent that great for Smash Bros. You can still find wired controllers in some Gamestop stores. I would NOT buy on eBay. Most controllers you buy on Ebay do not work.
