Forums - Gaming Discussion - Was Sony's focus on late last gen triple A a failure?

Last of Us did very well, but Beyond and now GT6 have basically flopped completely, they seem like completely forgotten unyped games, while MS parades a better initial XBO lineup around.

Too me it's always been that Sony traded a better late PS3 library where MS focused an a better initial XBOX One ibrary instead ihn the same time period. Which was the better decision?

The game was released less than a week ago.

Seeing how both launch line ups are nothing special Sony did the right thing here. And they have some good ones coming next year.

It was a mistake, yes.

But Microsofts exclusives aren´t better.

At all.

Their line ups are both equally bad, I would give the comming months to Sony though.

An other extremely "logic" and "smart" VGC member calling something a flop because it didn't sell two billion units in 5 hours.

Move along people. Don't feed him.

Well Beyond certainly won't give Sony a profit. GT6 is a no brainer for profit, but it won't have the legs that GT5 had.

It is almost like these games were made as a PR stunt, disregarding maximum profit and only did it so the forums can praise them for supporting PS3 so late in the gen.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

How is it a mistake these console would of sold no matter what, infamous 1886 will be out this year which wilkl push hardware when the hype of owning something new dies down, the whole idea is to make money and that's exactly what The last of us and GT will do.

That's crazy.

MS may have a 5% better launch lineup, but in 2 years from know that'll be a distant memory. But it will also remain in the memory how Sony supported the PS3 with a variety of quality exclusives right until the end, whilst MS only disappointed with their paltry, lacklustre first party effort in the last years of the 360.

There really is no contest here. Sony's software output absolutely creams whatever MS has done since (at least) end 2009.

This.  Sony made a mistake by putting resources into GT6 when the time and effort would have been better spent on making a full GT experience on the PS4 sooner rather than later.

All those premium cars they worked on for GT6, they could have been spending that time making premium cars for GT7, now there are going to be a lot of complaints when there are GT7 models, but they have 50% of their cars being PS3 models.

Considering that there are now more PS3s than 360s worldwide and it's still selling well, I'd say no because the new consoles don't have BC so 7th gen systems are not yet invalid other than Wii games that can be played on the Wii U. Sony needs the extra cash by all means and having those titles will keep the console alive longer.
