Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U Sells Only Over 48k IN Japan!? Dooomed :-)

Great boost, not really that much though all things considered.

I disagree.  When you consider the declining market for home consoles in Japan, and where it was before the bundles, it's decent.  Things were reaching disaster triple digit sales levels, like X-Box 360 levels, just a month ago.  This is at least salvageable.  But it is one week, and it needs many more of these.  Thankfully, Smash and Mario Kart aren't too far off, well at least Kart for sure.

It's one week, it doesn't mean anything in the long run, it's not worth a thread.

It's worth it to Tbone ;)

-100 Rings now give 1ups again (now they have a purpose)

The first changes actually compel me to 100% the game now, before I beat the game and was done with it.

You're saying the rings didn't have a purpose? Now that's just stupid.

I find it hard to understand why these changes weren't in the original game. The damage has been done.

of course they had purpose, they stop you from dying in 1 hit (i would hope)

It was more once you have 20 or so rings, there was no point in getting more, because even if you had 600 (which gave you no lives), you always dropped only 20 something.

From several weeks of 3k to this and all we get are doomsayers still?

When Vita turned itself around in Japan that first week, wasn't it heralded as a success? Weren't naysayers quickly berated?

Doom is hitting 3k and staying at 3k or going lower. Doom is not hitting 3k and then steadily climbing to the best selling home console slot for the past several weeks to the point it's only surpassed by the 3DS itself. Does it need to maintain that level to become a success? Yes. Does it need to maintain that level to no longer be doomed? No.

No one is claiming it to be a massive success just because of this but it has shown signs of no longer being doomed. And there is a massive gulf of a difference between massive success and doomed. A console can actually live in between those 2 dichotomous points.

As I said it's a great boost, no denying that. But at the moment it's just one week. We'll have to wait and see, but I doubt it will keep up.

Great comment! Nice to see you around here again, it's been a while =)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

This doesn't change anything no matter how much we want it to. Wii U is a failure and is going to remain a failure.

*Yawnnnnnn Come up with something original

I am sorry tbone. I am sick of people anticipating a Wii U come back. The number isn't impressive if you put it in a proper perspective. My response is too blunt? Reality sucks. SONY fans are getting on your nerves. You are better than that. I will be happy when Nintendo turn things around but it ain't happening this generation.

And I bet you said the same shit about the 3DS before it's massive turn around.

Nope. It isn't comparable either way.

Allow me to be neutral.  Both Vita and WiiU are still performing mediocre at best.

But I agree, neither is doomed...... in Japan

I also think the Wii U is not doomed in North America.  Now Europe, especially the UK...That's a different story.
