Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U Sells Only Over 48k IN Japan!? Dooomed :-)

I especially don't get why people say "The numbers are bad considering there was a new DQ released"!! Remember that game already came out to WiiU in March this year, this is just a re-release with some kind of add-on in it... I don't think the bump of 20k this week had all that much to do with the DQ release.

The sales trend is positive as it has been for the last couple of weeks. Not to record smashing, but from really bad to ok numbers and i hope and think that it's gonna settle in the 20k region after the holidays.

The new PS/Xbox had very good starts, but they both launched in the holiday season and at least the PS4 had a great amount of hype in advance! WiiU also had good numbers at launch, the two will have to prove themselves next year when the hype has died and the first game draughts start to hit...

I really hate to be a killjoy but it's just one week. A week with the holiday boost and a new Dragon Quest. I would hope the hardware sales go up because of that.

Not "just one week" and not a new dragon quest.

Okay it's not a "new" Dragon Guest but it's still a Dragon Quest. One of the biggest franchises in Japan, of course it's going to give some type of bump. And what do you mean by "not just one week"? Are you saying it's going to sell 48k+ every week?

if it's really just an expansion (you need the original one), then the buyers were people who already owned the console. that means DQ didn't have much of an impact on sales. and it's not "just one week" because wii u will keep rising the next weeks, until the holydays end.

bolded: i thought that too but it's not even that. it's an expansion, meaning one must own the first version in order to play it. that means very very few of those buyers were just getting their wii u.

"its only a week blah blah blah" comments from sony fans... same people who cums everytime vita sells more than 30k in japan

It's one week, it doesn't mean anything in the long run, it's not worth a thread.

yes, while WiiU is doomed and SM3DL didn't sell worths 10 threads each

great news for the WiiU!!

Thanks for making so many baseless assumptions about me. I never said we need all those threads.

It's an improvement in Japan. Actually it is a massive improvement. That's the fact. Time will tell how it all pans out.

Thus you get two types of people responding:

1) Those who see this as positive and want to discuss it. Some are more excited than others.
2) Those who for whatever reason do not what the company or system to succeed.

There is the third type, those that don't give a toss. They usually can't be bothered to post or if they do post it is usually just a couple lines and that's it.

These threads all follow the same pattern. Generally it is the same members doing the same thing. Those that get excited and those that want to stop that excitement.

In some cases the later is necessary I admit, but surely there is a better way to spend your time than costantly peeing on peoples parade if they get excited about something, which I think is worthy in this case.

Double PS3/Vita numbers, nice!

This doesn't change anything no matter how much we want it to. Wii U is a failure and is going to remain a failure.

I think some of you need to re-assess your understanding of that word.

You throw it around far too often.

It's not only Sony fans, as yes I know you are relating it to the vita.

HOW DARE YOU write something positive about Nintendo! It is still doomed! DOOMED I say!
