Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you like DLC or not?

I hate it. It´s just a cheap way for companies to get even more money from us.

I've only bought 2 pieces of DLC this gen:
Burnout paradise new island, was fun for a few hours.
Dragon age awakenings, still haven't played it.

I'm not a fan of DLC, when I'm done with a game I don't tend to come back to it. Most games outstay their welcome anyway, so day 1 DLC be damned as well.

I did buy 2 track packs for GT5, I wasn't done with that game yet.

I don't play shooters online anymore. It was much more fun in LAN with hundreds of user created maps to choose from, freely downloaded from the net. Homer Simpson running after Kenny with a crowbar in a recreation of our office in Half-Life death match. Console fps games are so boring :p

I'm a sucker for DLC that adds to the story regardless of if it feels like it should of been apart of the game originally *Cough cough Final Fantasy XIII-2*

I have never bought DLC, don't think I ever will.

An example of bad DLC Call of Duty: Ghost "The Wolf" pack, this just gives me a surge of so many different emotions, on one hand I laugh at the absurdity of buying a 4 dollar skin, on the other I get angry at the fact there are people willing to pay 4 dollars for a skin, so after a while when I start getting dizzy I just stop and decide to ignore it all together.

That's manly what I do, I ignore stuff I don't like, and so I will ignore DLC.

Of course it is subjective.  Opinions are subjective after all xD  There is no right or wrong answer.  Just want to know where everybody stands on this topic.

If the DLC quality is like how bethesda put into their game ( Shivering Isle in Oblivion ) or Rockstar ( Undead Nightmare in Red Dead Redemption ) i would buy it. If the DLC quality let say Saints Row ( guns, costumes and other stuff that could have been put into the game at first place ) then i won't support this kind of DLC practices.

Beside i don't like how game developer like to rely too much on DLC and felt like we get an incomplete game. One of the reason i like CD Projek a lot because they don't do this crap DLC practices.

Why pay more for a game that you already own? I refuse to buy DLC for games that i already own. Multi-player maps, extra levels/weapons/characters are not worth the price. It is best to wait for the GOTY edition that has most of the DLC included.

I play games mainly for 2 reasons: a fun gameplay experience (like Wii Sports Resort), or for an immersive story line (Alan Wake, Mass Effect etc). DLC does not usually change the gameplay experience, so we can ignore that for now.

A story-driven game must contain the complete story. Would you buy a DVD, and somewhere in the middle the screen goes black with a message "to see what is happening here, you need to buy the DVD-add-on"...? There would be class action lawsuits.

So no, for me, DLC adds nothing.

I think the only DLC I bought that was worth the price was Fable II. In general it seem like RPGs benefit from it more than other genres.

Overall, however, I mistrust DLC because it's so easy to abuse. When I buy a game I want the complete experience; I don't want it carved up and sold to me piecemeal.

With the GTA 4 expansions, yeah I really enjoyed those. Not when its part of the game missing...... cough EA cough
