I'm yet to play 3D World. It's wrapped up, teasing me mercilessly for the next fortnight. However I very much enjoyed 3D Land and as long as 3D World has enough levels with decent difficulty I know I'll enjoy it.

I too wasn't thrilled at 3D World after its reveal. The trailer was bad and made the game look derivative and bland. But after the second trailer I was on board 100%.

Super Mario World is my favourite Mario title (and game). The overworld. The cape. Yoshi. Just excellent.

But I think it's better to compare 3D Mario's with 3D and 2D with 2D. I know Super Mario 3D Land has "3D" in its name, but isn't this game actually more of a modernized 2D game with 3D elements?

Okay that was pretty embarrasing to say the least. But moving on.

As noticed I have not yet played SM3DL so I can't say that I will disagree nor agree with you, if it's better or worse than the Galaxy games. But from the games that I have played I would most likely say that the Galaxies and Mario 64 are the best Mario 3D games out there, so if SM3DL is better than them then it's a sick game. :P

Among the 2D Mario's I think that SMW will always be my favourite, and SMB3 as a very strong #2.
