Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Anyone else happy with 3D World commercial failure?

You actually WANT Nintendo to go back down the Sunshine route?? Lol..

What Nintendo needs to do with Mario is to focus more on the 2D classic stuff, but with NEW content, and not just new powerups. They need new WORLDS, new mechanics, maybe some new characters. Think of the jump from Mario 3 to Mario World. They need THAT kind of a leap to keep people interested.

this guy gets it. I would take it further and say it needs a leap from Mario 1 to 3, its all tall order, but if they cant do it no one can. What we have been getting is Mario 1-2(japanese version)

No, but Nintendo is eating its crow, looking at the sales and the rumored November sales of the Wii U.

Industrial accident is an understatement.

What are you talking about? I can only assume in regards to the sales of mario 3d world that you are trolling at this point? 380k first week without europe around the time the xbox one and ps4 were releasing. Sales are fine.

Sub 100k start in Japan, bombed in UK, doing very average on VGchart while being probably overtracked... The game is not succeeding, as simple as that.

3D Land was a success and that's why we got this game. If this game continue to sell as bad as that, then Nintendo will probably stop the experiment and give me back the Mario I like. That's my only concern at this point.

You admitted in a previous quote that you won't (and therefore haven't tried) the game yet.  Maybe you should.  It's a valid and worthy successor to Galaxy, and IS a proper Mario game.

Give it a shot and report back, otherwise you ARE just trolling.  Do you even have a Wii U???

I'd say with utmost confidence that Lucas-Rio have no idea WTH he's talking about when it comes to Super Mario 3D world:

It just pisses me off when people with no knowledge at all start talking out of their arse with authority.

Yeah.... It's a commercial failure...

Would PS fans really buy Mario games ? They´re not even buying Knack.....or Rayman.....

yeah, it might sell something on sony consoles...

Playstation owners would eat 3D World up. Comparing it, a 3D platformer, to Rayman is silly. Comparing it, a Game of the Year candidate, to Knack is silly. Nintendo would shatter so many sales records if they went multiplatform. And no, I don't want, nor think, they should go multiplat, I own a Wii U and its fantastic.

I know it is silly, but many Sony fans here insist in these futile, ironic comparisons. Why? Plain dumb fanboyism

SM3DWorld is fantastic. I´m currently playing it with my niece and sister and we´re trying to finish it on multiplayer. The game is really awesome and worth every penny.

215 000 first month in the US, it maybe be worst than the japanese launch, due to the difference of size of the market and the fact that the US absolutely love Mario.

The game will struggle to get a million at the end of december. It will get it eventually, but I don't see this game selling anywhere close to Mario Sunshine, the least sold 3D Mario.

Nintendo has to give up the 3D World approach for home console.

I have no Wii U yet. A brand new full 3D Mario would have sold me the Wii U this winter, but since we aren't getting this, my Wii U buy is seriously delayed. I will get it eventually for games like Zelda, Smash, MK8 and X, but the lack of a full 3D platformer is making Nintendo lost customers among his own fans, as my exemple shows.

Mario Galaxy 3 on Wii U wouldn't have fared any better. NSMB trounced sales of both Galaxy games combined and still couldn't push the Wii U.

It's over. I don't even think Nintendo will greenlight another 3D Mario for the Wii U. This is it, Nintendo already has given the system 1 2D Mario and 1 3D Mario, along with a Luigi expansion pack for the 2D one.

Wii U may not even sell to GameCube levels, I think Nintendo is not going to greenlight many more games for the Wii U going forward as development is expensive. I think their strategy will shift now to simply finishing up existing projects that are in development (with Zelda being the last big one) and letting that be that.

You'll get Mario Galaxy 3 (or whatever its equivalent is) .... on 3DS in 2015. Where is can sell 3x more. Enjoy.

I could maybe see Nintendo porting Galaxy 1/2 to Wii U in HD ala Wind Waker, as that would be cheap, so maybe there's that.

I disagree.

Mario 3D need the "wow factor", the thing that make Nintendo fans want to buy the newest console. This game is too small smized and lack ambition to make people buy a console.
