It will probably end up selling ok this holiday when all is said and done. It will probably have some legs, but i'd say Nintendo is in danger of franchise fatigue so i'd hope they give Mario a rest for a couple of years.

Tbh, i actually want Koizumi and his team work on a new Metroid just to spice things up and have Retro work on a new kick-ass balls to the walls 2D Mario game! XD

I'm pretty sure that a proper 3D Mario/Zelda U/Metroid announcement altogether can pull some units with the core gamers. In fact, part  of the early Wii success was because this. We already know about MK and SSB, and adding those 3 announcements will make some people buy it.

And 10M is, right now, almost an impossible number for 3DWorld.

For the second part, I agree. NSMBU can have the best gameplay, but it is too similar to NSMBWii.

Wii U + NSMBU + NSLU + 3D World = $360 (2 games & DC)

3DS XL + NSMB2 + 3D Land + Pokemon X + Animal Crossing NL = $360 (4 games)

2DS + NSMB2 + 3D Land + Pokemon Y + Animal Crossing NL + Zelda ALBW = $330 (5 games for less)

With Holiday deals for the 3DS as well. Here lies the problem. Wii U has a similar library to the 3DS and is more $.

I agree with you though, consumers should worry about the games not the sales of the system.

Its pitty f zero gets no love. F Zero Gx was the perfect mix of Arcade feeling combined with longplayability of console games

Didn't Wii U rise to 28k in Japan? Second consecutive week it rises. And it's not really holidays in Japan yet so that argument is invalid there. It's not moving as much as many have hoped though definitely but I can't remember when 3D Mario was last seen as a console mover.

They said Zelda will probably be shown on the 2014 E3, and a 3D mario already released... Yeah Super Mario 3D World kinda counts as one. At this point the only thing they could announce would be a Metroid game, and if it's anything like Metroid Other M then they better not show anything at all. At this point I think they only have Mario Kart 8 and Smash for 2014. I doubt they will announce anything else for 2014

True I think that it will sell even worse than Super Mario Sunshine. Such a shame, I finished the game yesterday, and it's truly awesome!

No, if Mario 3D World won't sell well, I don't think a Galaxy would do better. Especially since 3D World had true local multiplayer and Galaxy is essentially a one player game. That said, I do think they should make a Galaxy game for the next Mario and hope that it does better if they can improve the install base by then, but they should focus on Wii U games we haven't seen before, primarily Metroid and an original Zelda. It would also be nice to see Star Fox, but I won't hold my breath.

the wii u had it's biggest week since launch after the release of super mario 3d world, so yes it does sell consoles.

I wonder if the system will end up proving to be 'toxic' to all these games...as in, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros U, etc..being the worst selling iterations in their respective franchises, no matter how awesome they are :(

3D world is just another reason to buy the system, once more "reasons" comes out, that's when you'll see decent sales. 1 game is just not enough for most people (yes they are more games but talking about BIG games such as MK8)
