Recent news indicate that NBA2K2014 implemented a patch to force DRM on the game, we had DRM implemented on GTA V. We have DRM on Steam... Even though Sony and Microsoft said they are not going to implement DRM... they never said third parties couldn't do it.In fact they said that the option was there for them to use it.

I think this is going to be a trend, most third party games will implement DRM in some way. This stealthy patches seem to be a good way to camouflage them. This seems to be the path gaming is taking...

Sony and Microsoft said they won't use DRM on their games but maybe in the future when DRM is wildly accepted they will start to do it too.

Anyway, what do you think about DRM? Is it okay for third parties to use it? When it becomes a common trend and Sony and Microsoft adopt it, will you continue to support them?

Personally I don't like it but Steam seems to use it and lots of people don't complain about it on Steam.

Buy Nintendo. They are the only one who understands you buy a physical game, its yours.

I hope they never get into DRM.

I will deal with it.I mean,I don't have problem with internet connection,I always play games online, even when I'm playing singleplayer. But question is,is there some hidden agenda behind this involving micro/macrotransactions that I strongly oppose...

I will try to avoid DRM games as much as possible.

Saying DRM are the future, is like saying NSA surveillance is the future, it doesn't mean that you should accept it and of course it's bad.

It means only two things: there will be even less money throwed in video games, even more pirates, even a bigger discrepancy between major game publishers and indies etc...

True, but I didn't say I accept it!

That scenario looks bad, the future looks bleak .

It wil only be the future if consumers support games that it. You are naive if you dont think SONy and especially MS wont support in the future. Western 3rd parties are always going to claim that Microtransactions and DRM and whatever other cancer feature are future. That what they want. Future is not decided by them though.

I agree, I belive Sony and Microsoft will implement DRM but it will be after it's wildly accepted.

Yes, I think it will be accepted. If people accept DRM on Steam why not on consoles? I hope they don't but I think that's the direction the industry wants to go and they will do everything they can to force DRM down our throats.

There are many different types of DRM. DRM stopping discs from being copied: great. DRM stopping discs from being dumped: great. DRM magically making piracy or any wrong doing impossible without getting in the way of the consumer: great.

DRM restricting the consumer's ability to play: screw that.
