Well there's part of your problem right there, there's no substitute for the real thing, especially the controller.

I spent hours just mucking around with Mario's face at the startup screen. Good times.

Er, the PC does it better than the real thing.
You can get Nintendo 64 styled controllers and you can hook the PC up to a HD Television and play the game better than the Nintendo 64 could.

I haven't got one myself yet personally, but I do have a SNES controller to play my SNES games as the console died. (Perfectly legal to do so here, provided you own the origional media.)

Nasty. The sticks on these just aren't the same as official N64 controllers. Sure they might not wear down as quickly, but they've been known to not track as well. And no, nothing beats original harware on a CRT screen for older consoles. Plus you miss out on the most important part, the getting-the-cartridge-to-read ritual.

Needed more sack...........

LBP is one of the best last gen games, first console game that really fostered user content, entire levels and endless playability.

First one sold 5 million not exactly small, but yes prob should have been bigger.

You clearly didnt try very many user created levels then. Some of the user created stuff put the retail levels to shame.

You cannot state that someone "clearly" did anything, because you have no idea what they've done or haven't.

FYI, I played it at a friends' house, the friend loved it, and made me play it/watch him play it for hours. I saw plenty. But thanks anyway.

I don't understand all this discussion about the game play mechanics or so forth. None of those have anything to do with being a good mascot or making people delight in a character.

He looks like someone crapped out a beanbag. Mario shows up on other games because he is a person. Even if it seems ridiculous, like Street Basketball he can show up as a person. No one wants to have a bag of crap referee a fight or try to dunk on you.
