You guys are using the word mascot way too euphemistically. I guess Blinx the Cat is Microsoft's mascot?

Mascots have been dead since the 90's.

Edit: Oh and I love how LBP's floaty mechanics are being slandered by the same frauds who probably defend and welcome the broken, buggy, piece of trash known as Super Mario 64 with open arms.

I jizzed over Super Mario 64 back in '96 and I loved it on DS back in '04 but I watched a Twitch 120 star speedrun last night.  The mechanics are still solid and it broke new ground back in the day.  It's not so great now.  I can respect its achievements though.  It ushered in a lot of stuff we still have today.

LBP is a good game and it's gorgeous to look at.  I think it would have done better if Sackboy were defined, though.  It was a design choice but I think it hurt the game more than it helped.  And the game IS a bit glitchy and the mechanics floaty but I can forgive it.  It's trying to do a lot of things at once.  Any game that has realistic physics is going to have unexpected results sometimes.

Played SM64 a few years ago on emulator. Yeah.... no good. I rarely ever not finish a game but I couldn't see myself going back to it after a few hours of mucking around.

Well there's part of your problem right there, there's no substitute for the real thing, especially the controller.

I spent hours just mucking around with Mario's face at the startup screen. Good times.

Around the Network

Well first and foremost... the series was on Playstation and not Nintendo consoles. Playstation is the hardcore audience, a platfomer with that audience is lucky to achieve LBP success.

That same series on Nintendo consoles and pushed by Nintendo could have been more successful.

Sony wants the casual audience, but they haven't had much success getting it since the PS2 days.

You obviously never played SM RPG on SNES or M+L games

I've played more than enough Mario games so be able to pass judgement.

Er, the PC does it better than the real thing.
You can get Nintendo 64 styled controllers and you can hook the PC up to a HD Television and play the game better than the Nintendo 64 could.

I haven't got one myself yet personally, but I do have a SNES controller to play my SNES games as the console died. (Perfectly legal to do so here, provided you own the origional media.)

Where the hell did you read that? I had a NES, SNES and played the important N64 games on emulator.

Yeah, but in those games, Mario and Luigi and all of their supporting characters all have extremely well defined personalities.  Those games are actually laugh out loud funny most of the time.  Hell, all of the time.

I started Mario RPG - didn't grab me. But back to your point - so, Mario has different personalities in different games? Which is canon?

First - I think it's missing the games people love. People really like the LBP games, but rarely hear love or obsessed.

Second - they guy reminds me of the one from 9 and looks a bit moldy - but that would work. There is a character that is a steaming pile of, and people post him all over the place. I think he is just lacking any compelling back story to really connect. He is adorable, but in a 'so what' so is a beanie baby kind of way (and they all have tiny back stories.)

Third - he isn't bad, just not compelling enough to get people to make sure they always have his games.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I was just chiming in.  I couldn't tell you.  Hell, Bowser kidnaps Mario's girlfriend and then they hang out and party together or play tennis afterwards.  Maybe all of it's canon.  Maybe none of it is.
