Just "why" on Kili x Tauriel

the rest was pretty good, stood a little closer to canon and fleshed out some good things like Laketown politics or Dol Guldur. Changing the Arkenstone to be an artifact that would allow Thorin to rule was a nice touch, as it actually made more sense than the canonical plot, which was "Find Smaug, Bring Burglar, ???, Profit!" Here they only wanted the Arkenstone, and with it could rally the Dwarves to fight off Smaug.

Agreed.  This was the only UGH moment for me.  Otherwise I thought the movie was brilliantly done and a return to form for PJ.  High energy from start to finish.

It's all about the game.

Because sausage parties are no fun.

Seriously though did you SEE Tauriel?

No, i get why Tauriel needed to exist, but why the romantic tension with Kili? It runs entirely counter to every portrayal of Dwarves and how they interact with Elves.

I always wondered why Kili was the only handsome dwarf.  Now it all makes sense... couldn't have her falling for Bombur, despite his surprisingly quick 40 yard dash time.

Because they saw an oppertunity to probably tell a bit about Legolasand it makes ..the next movie rather interesting. (If you've read the book), SPOILERS: Kili dies and with him having a romance, people will be able to atleast seperate him from any other dwarf (even if the book barely seems to mention him). Basically itll be more impactful. Maybe Tauriel dies alongside him as well. And I dont know about you but I'll weep if that hotness dies ;_;

Thank you.

Went to see it last night... 3D high frame-rate so it looked extremely sleek.

Needless to say, it... was... AWESOME.

It's better than the first Hobbit for sure, but sadly it also is the most open-ended of all the LotR/Hobbit movies! D*mnit why do I need to wait another year :-|.
