only MARIO 3d WORLD deserved it, but because its a Nintendo game....

I haven't played TLOU (yet) so I can't really compare them both. But I will say this. GTA5 is an amazing, amazing game, and easily the best game I've played this gen, not counting Portal. Maybe TLOU is better, I can't say, but I think any GOTY award GTA5 gets is much deserved. And if TLOU is as great as GTA5, then maybe this was the best year for gaming ever

I doubt most people played all the games nominated. People are scary weird on these forums sometimes. I loved GTA 5, but the thrilling, dark and sexy Tomb Raider would be my game of the year. Back on GTA V there seemed to be a lot more really positive views for the game than negative. SMH at most of the threads tonight. WOW.

I do. To me, TLOU was great but it wasn't the gem everyone is saying it is.

Hard to deny the sheer scope of GTA5. On top of that it's a great game. TLOU was great too though. I think it could go either way and I think over the next few months you'll see different publications picking one over the other as their winner.

Shame no love for Mario 3D World though.

Which is precisely why the VGA/VGX has always been a joke, and Gametrailers in general is a joke, because they are so obviosuly corporately sponsored by certain companies that it's not even funny.

I think that BioShock Infinite deserved GotY over both of them.

Remember when people were complaining for years about GTA4 being overrated on Metacritic? GTA5 has it beat in that department. The best damn game in the world could have come out this year but when a new GTA is out it's over don't even bother.
