Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo is completely out of touch with reality.

The problem is that Nintendo really thought that Cranky Kong was worth appearing at that shown and making a big fuss about it, I mean how out of touch can you get?

OT: Yes, they have absolutely no idea what to do with the Wii U, that's why I asked in the "Pachter: "I don't know why Iwata is still employed""-thread, why anyone even believes that he is still the right person for the job, but nobody could answer that, they were all to busy making fun of how "stupid" Pachter is. Really Nintendo fans, when is the point when you admit that Nintendo needs to make some much needed changes in their management to even try to deal with the Wii U situation (of course I'm not talking to every Nintendo fan, but some have been very stubborn in admitting that Nintendo has problems).

Maybe I missed some of the rumors but wasn't Nintendo only statement on the matter that they were going to show a "previously announced game"? All this hype about Zelda or any other game was Geof and random people on the internet. From the threads that I saw it wasn't Nintendo who made the fuss about the VGX announcement, but like I said I may have missed some of them.

Is it Nintendo that is out of touch with reality, or is it you?

Look at the facts, the best games out this christmas were in Nintendo consoles. Despite the hate and the doom and the critics, the facts, are there wether you like it or not. SM3DW and LoZ:ALBW were the best games of this holiday season. New consoles? A slew of average rushed games and ports.
Who is actually out of touch with reality i wonder...

As far as VGX went, everything about it sucked. Nintendo teased and didnt deliver but Microsoft and Sony didnt deliver anything aswell. Next-gen still looks like a dry land for next year and i pity whoever got one of the new systems cause they will soon realise this. The draught begins now.

It's ok OP. I know that feel. They are clueless, still blind by the Wii sucess, and that's sad.
This is not about how much the others show, or if it's a lame award. This is about Nintendo and a poorly presentation. This is just a missed oportunity, and a good one to shine above the others with something as simple as a new Smash trailer.

When viewers dropped like rock after a hour I'm sure nintendo was thinking we could made our sales double.

you say miss opportunity but every opportunity doesn't reflect in the right decision. This show didn't even have Sony. What does that tell you? Nobody Internet gamers cared about the show and most left less than half way through.

Let's be honest here. We are discussing about this topic when we could been both saying "did you see that that awesome Smash/X/Bayonetta trailer?" "Yeah, and everyone is talking about it!"

Would that hurt Nintendo to do? No

Would they be able to do another trailer in their next ND or simply point at the previously showed trailer? Yes

Do they need as much press attention as they can get? Yes

Is this free marketing? Yes

Do I give a damn if Sony and MS care for that thing of award and have something to show? No

Donkey kong was 2 most tweeted thing on twitter for like 3 hours. Donkey kong is coming in 2 months. Nintendo got the most this show could have gave and it didn't have much to based on trend of viewership. I would argue many came just see what nintendo had (nintendo fans) and left after donkey kong. The drop after donkey kong showed the  Internet award show  is made of people who already know about all three consoles and came for what they wanted and left. Nintendo needs to properly market the games they have now because people buy consoles for games they can play.

btw what press attention? Like show it on there website where you can already get info on all nintendo news? Seem circular and pointless. If you know gamespot than you know of nintendo if don't of gamespot than how will they know of new by nintendo. So, press attention point is pointless it assumes it gives nintendo to someone who never seem them or is not up to date. Gamespot users are up to date.

That was websites reporting the "news", not actual people commenting it.

Ign could reveal for nintendo game and it would have the same effect.

once you put a show on the Internet that forces to people go to gaming website you lose any mainstream attention it could have. Most men 18-25 aren't going to watching video game trailers on a Saturday at night on the Internet.

"Excuse me sir, I see you have a weapon. Why don't you put it down and let's settle this like gentlemen"  ~ max

I think they should have shown a new IP, new Zelda or even a new Metroid Prime.  I'm tired of waiting for Nintendo to surprise us.  I was unsure of getting a Wii U this holiday and I gotta say that after last night's showing I am not buying one.  They are insane to think that DK deserved to be shown at the VGX.  I have lost all hope for Nintendo and to be honest Mario can only do so much...people will get tired of it real fast.

ign Review of Mario 3d was pretty cool though

Still they thought it was worth showing up on that show for this and "previously announced game" could mean alot more than Donkey Kong. They should have known that people would start speculating, it was obvious, so you can't strip them of the blame for the internet hype, they could have just said that they're going to show new Donkey Kong stuff and not lead people to believe that it might be something else, the other publishers/developers also said what game they're going to show of and didn't make it such a huge secret.

It could have mean DKC, X, Mario Kart 8, Yarn Yoshi, SMT x FE or Bayonetta 2 (those are the games I remember from the top of my head). Now why people start assuming it was Zelda or new IP? because people like Geoff took this announcement way out of proportion and people fault for it. Nintendo was very clear on what they were going to announce, sure they didn't say exactly what they were going to show, but that doesn't excuse people for building up hype. Nintendo is at fault for many things, but raising people's expections here wasn't one of them, gamers on the internet are the ones to blame.

I warranty you that if Nintendo would have showed anything other than Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid or a new IP, they would still be dissapointed, maybe not as much as right now, but still pissed off that Nintendo didn't showed what they wanted.

Why would they want to be in touch with reality? That means they would have to recognize that the WiiU is a disaster and their image is in desperate need of change. Let them live in their fantasy world that Donkey Kong is the thing people really wanted to see tonight.

Honestly I don't think most people realize how big of a failure the Wii U is gonna end up as.  I still see people saying it will sell 30 million or blah blah blah, but here are the facts:

-The Wii U is trending at around half the weekly sales the Gamecube had

-The Gamecube launced 1.5 years after the PS2

-The Gamecube sold 22 million...

Now let those 3 things sink in people.  The Wii U is lucky to reack 15 million.

Launching after the PS2 is what hurt it. It did nothing that the PS2 couldn't already do, and Nintendo was making rather off-beat games for it outside of Melee and Metroid Prime. With Wii U, at least, Nintendo's devs seem to have their heads bolted on straight

Nintendo always tries to please only the Nintendo fans and never try to bring something new that makes others interesting and this is the only reason i don't like Nintendo. They never try something new in IP's/matured for core audience but they try to be innovative in same old games which is good only for the fans.

Xenoblade.

Its a Role Play game but we have so many RPG games like Skyrim, Dragon age,KH3, Final Fantasy, Diablo etc., already for users to play, but people these days want something like Action/Adventure/Shooter/Story telling games with multiplayer elements which they can't find in other platforms and only one is not enought for them to make people to buy thier console.

So you want Nintendo to stop making their samey games and start making the samey games that the other guys make?

Brilliant.

You guys can´t be more wrong. The only thing the Internet has been talking since yesterday is Donkey Kong Country Returns.
