It is pretty much proven that college will make you think the average human is more intelligent than they are really. I felt college was humbling too, everyone seemed capable of deep thinking. Hell, it is a requirement to pass. It did not make me fell dumb, just that there are a lot of really smart people out there. Working only is not as fun as college and my coworkers are less fun, and intelligent.

Eh, I disagree. College made me realize more how much bullshit there is in the world. I mean, after my freshman year in college I felt like I was given a lens that let me see all the conspiracy bullshit out there. For me, being able to evaluate how sound an idea is was probably the most important lesson I learned. Also, college made me realize that 1) a majority of the people don't know the basic things you learn in introductory classes 2) that you didn't know the basic things you learn introductory classes before you took it and that you probably still don't know afterwards when you forget them.

I do not disagree with you. I was just stating that research has proven that you will feel like people are more intelligent than they are in college. When everyone you associate with is intelligent you have a sense that a lot of people are intelligent. I really do not know what to make of the rest of your statement. It seems like your not feeling good about college at the moment. Good luck.

Well, basically college makes me feel like every single person in the world is an idiot, including me.

I remember way back doing a college interview for Columbia University of something, and basically the whole conversation was about the alumni's belief in herbal medicine and shit.

All I can grasp from this is that we have a very different viewpoint on what is intelligence here. You seem to be talking about things people think, or do while I am talking about overall capability. Yes a lot of intelligent people think and do stuff  i do not agree with, yet I do not think this makes them not intelligent.

college has no effect on my intelligence, but it sure as hell made me a lazy bum

College makes me feel the dumbest I've felt in a really long time. I was always one of the top students in my school. I used to be able to get A's without even putting in much effort. Right now I'm not close to being the smartest and my average grade is a B+/B. My grades are still good, but it was humbling finding out that I'm not as smart as I once thought I was.

made me richier

I guess my point is that if you take a close look at every person, you can probably find at least one really shockingly ignorant thing about them. After going to college, I just find more and more things appalling and shocking.
