Rebuilding Norende

After about one hour of play, this major sidequest will be unlocked. You assign villagers to rebuild shops and remove obstacles. Two villagers work twice as fast as one, three thrice as fast as one etc. More villagers can be added via streetpass or over the internet. The latter method allows you to add 3-4 villagers each day; it doesn't matter whether you have friends or just receive guests (non-friends who have connected to the Bravely Default server). Work on Norende continues while the game is kept on standby on your 3DS, so leaving the system on over night will speed up the process of restoring Norende.

Summon/Send

In order to send, select the third to last option in the battle menu, then Send and then perform an action of your choice. This character and action will be attached to your friend card and appear in other people's games.

In battle, select the third to last option and then Summon to get help. The summoned character will perform his set action and then disappear. In order to use the action again, your friend has to send it again. If it wasn't made this way, very powerful attacks could be spammed at will.

Abilink

You can assign one of your friends to each of your four characters. Your character will be able to use all the skills your friend has already learned.

Support Skills

This list will show which support skills can be attained with which jobs, plus short descriptions if necessary. Valuable ones will be bolded. Names might not be 100% correct, because I am going to translate from German to English and there are traditional differences in Final Fantasy terminology. For example, healing spells in English are Cure etc. while in German they are called Vita, Vitra and Viagra.

Freelancer:
Monk:
White Mage:
Etc.

Feel free to use this thread for general discussion of the game. Jobs, skills, sidequests and the like. As usual, it's advised that you use spoiler text for the story.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

More importantly, when can we expect your biased review?

Even a bluff would suit me just fine...

Like usual, after I finished the game or played enough of it to make a fair assessment. Since this looks to be a JRPG with a lot of optional content and plenty of grinding opportunities for jobs, it's probably going to take at least two weeks. Less, if it sucks.

Haha. Looking forward to it. Sorry us Yankees can't be of any help rebuilding Colony 6 Norende until February.

Most anticipated 3DS game. With this coming along, every game that sold me on my 3DS will have been localized. Could not be happier.

As of now I can't tell if I want to rebuild the town but it will likely happen. Depends on the quality of the game. I'll post here again when I get to that certain point in the game.

ah awesome, my FC is 3952-7166-8116.
will definitely be picking this game up on Saturday, coz Australia is making me wait the extra day =(

Black Rock Shooter★Hatsune Miku

Will have to wait till February, but will most likely get the Collector's Edition day one (Assuming Collector's Edition comes to the states)

Looked a bit around on Gamefaqs, but didn't find any posts on how exactly the online functions work. A Google search didn't turn up anything either.

What I found on Gamefaqs though is that villagers from other players could only be added via streetpass in the original Japanese release while it was possible to download 1-3 villagers every day via the internet. So the friend codes were only used to summon friends and ambilink (still not sure if those are two different features or one and the same).

Looks like we'll have to wait a little bit longer to find out how things work in the updated For the Sequel release. But in any case, it shouldn't hurt to add each other as friends, especially lestatdark who will max out all jobs before completing the first dungeon.

From the demo I got the impression you get access to another skill-set through Ambilink, while sending means you fire up the attack a friend has sent you. I should try that out.

predict!

Can 3DS outsell PSP? / Does Vita have better 3rd-party support in 2014 than 3DS?

Bet with platformmaster918 and ethomaz about PS3 overtaking Wii in total sales.

Bet with Lawlight: How many PS3 will Sony ship over 2013. He wins if that are more than 11 million, I win if it are less.
