I'll be blunt, I can't point to a single game that was better thanks to Bluray. The best things Bluray had to offer on PS3 is higher quality video and no disc swaps.

It appears to me the only thing that motivated Sony to push Bluray was royalties and it made the PS3 signficantly more expensive. Had PS3 not included Bluray, it might have launched for $399.

Not everyone wants Kinect, but not everyone wanted Bluray either. So I ask again! Is forcing Kinect on people any different than Sony forcing Bluray on us for PS3?!

pretty much the same,
and i guess that is why PS3 don't really sell well in the first place?
anyway,Sony has realized this and do a price cut for PS3 in order to fix their mistakes,
is MS ready to do so?A price cut or perhaps debundle the kinect?

It is different in the sense that... Kinect is External therefore its easy to get rid of if MS wanted to vs Bluray which the ps3 was built around in supporting and its Internal

Yes.  Blu-Ray was to be and became the standard HD playback format universal amongst optical playback manufactures.  Motion and voice control via Kinect is only the standard for the Xbox One.

PS3 was the Trojan Horse for Blu-ray. Made it easier to beat HD-DVD. If the 360 had an HD-DVD drive, things may have been different. Warner Brothers might have made the decision to kill Blu-ray instead. Then again Sony already invested in their own movie studio to help out on this battle. Fox, Disney, Sony and Lion's Gate might have never turned and we would still be fucked as consumers till this day.

It was part of the whole Sony arrogance that people would only buy a PlayStation and continue to dominate the market, which meant that game devs would have taken advantage of the bigger storage of blu-ray, that didn't happen

But the real problem with the price was the cell processor. I for one was delighted with the blu-ray, it was really helpful to have a blu-ray player in the house, because I certainly wouldn't have bought one (for some time)

The cell on the other hand, cost tons and did provide extra power if you specifically designed your game around it (see how ND games look like their on a different console to most games), but I feel they could have done something more useful for less money
