Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What do you want, or expect from Nintendo (Wii U) in 2014? <NOT A DOOM THREAD>

I'll have my fill of games during the holidays, but looking forward to these titles in 2014:
Art Academy
Mario Kart 8
Yarn Yoshi
+ New or returning titles that need WiiU features or that just surprise you!

What else do I want from Ninty this coming year?
- Bigger push on digital content.
- Digital software linked to account instead of hardware.
- Share of your account with at least two consoles (three ideally)
- More releases on the eShop: Dr. Mario and Picross3HD... and that Tetris vs. PuyoPuyo too!
- Reintroduce third party VCs such as the MegaDrive.
- Onslaught of VC titles: all Wii VC available at the eShop via massive update.
- Include new VC consoles like GameCube or MegaCD.

For me they need to have a 2014 for the wii u like they have just had for 2013 with the 3ds. We need to see at least ten big games, preferably one per month to give the hardware a boost, which good games always do. Wind waker and mario 3d land are a start but not enough on their own. Its a shame they did not have mario kart 8 ready to give this month as that would have been a very strong one two combination for the wii u. My biggest bugbear is the distance between releases. This has to be shortened in the next year or two.

Just give me a reason to keep my Wii U and don't make me feel I wasted over 400 bucks on Wii U base items, and Reggie stop lying to Nintendo fans.

ARE YOU CRAZY? Reggie making a fool of American Ninty fans is the most priceless LULZ source for the other gamers (including naughty non-American Ninty ones) all around the world!!!

Smash was deliberately omitted, I don't like the Smash Bros games. ;)

:O

Hey, just cos I'm a Nintendo fan doesn't mean I have to like EVERYTHING they make. :p

IT DOES!!!

No but seriously, it is a shock to omit the most addictive Nintendo game evr made :P Guess everyone do have their own tastes O.o

I don't like fighters to begin with, and I find Smash's controls and physics to be horrible personally, they're so twitchy and loose. Definitely not my cup of tea.

I'd like Metorid but I dont' think they will release any other game next year. A 3DS Metroid is more likely.

More than anything I am looking for Nintendo to showcase new games which justify the touch screen gamepad direction they took with the Wii U. Where the gamepad touchscreen takes games to another level which isn't at all possible using the existing gamepad controls.

All I want is a true killer app on Wii U that no other console could possibly do justice.

Unfortunately, ideas like that don't just drop out of a hat, or every console would have a Wii Sports ready for launch.

What I want from them is Mario Kart 8. That's it.

What I expect from them is to clean up the humungous pile of dung that is the Wii U. They need to start acting like they are really trying to sell the console instead of apologizing about it and giving lackluster effort.

In order for Nintendo to do this, they need to have games come out regularly. No drought, that would just stab the Wii U in it's tiny tiny heart again. One of these games must be something new(ish, at least.) They also need to continue marketing it. Just giving up after the Holiday won't help.

Chop, chop, Nintendo.

I know I'll probabaly get gutted for making this thread because there have been a lot of doom and gloom Nintendo threads as of late. But what do you want/expect from Nintendo in 2014? What are your hopes they do in order to increase sales, bring attention to the Wii U, etc.

For me:

1) Release your strong, defining "Nintendo" software like Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Smash, X, Yoshi, etc.

2) No more long delays.

3) No more apologies and no more excuses; take responsibility and own up to it.

4) No more month long droughts. IMO, Wii U needs a healthy stream of games maybe 1 every one and a half month (too unreasonable?). They can't afford to go for months without games.

5) Heavily advertise your games. Apparently Reggie believes consumers now know the difference between Wii and Wii U. http://mynintendonews.com/2013/12/02/nintendo-of-america-consumers-now-understand-difference-between-wii-and-wii-u/

6) Online has to be an issue addressed sooner than later. They're finally beginning to bring out unified account systems, but what about linking Wii U and 3DS virtual console games? Oh yeah... VC...

7) Virtual Console... Enough said.

***It's 2:30 am where I live and I'm dead tired. If I think of more I'll add them. Again, this is my opinion. I'd love to hear yours. THIS IS NOT A WII U DOOM THREAD, so please no doom.

Lock if re-posted.

1. You act as if they are not working on releasing those games...

2. Do you really think they WANT long delays? They want to make sure their games are perfect before they release them. If you'd rather they released them quicker then the quality would be lower.

3. I don't recall them denying the fact that 2013 was pretty horrible for the Wii U. I've seen them admit it more than enough.

4. If you forget about 2013, and you look at 2014's schedule so far (not including plenty of games we don't even know exist currently) then it's looking amazing if your a core Nintendo fan.

5. I'll give you that. I saw a Wii U commercial for the first time in a long time in the past week and was shocked at how long it had been.

6. I agree.

7. Nintendo doesn't have a billion people working for it. The reason the VC games don't all get put on the eshop quick is because people are working on the NEW games. I'd rather it stay that way and the focus be on the new stuff rather than too many people working on the old stuff.
