Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The "Mario Kart" level in 3D World is a better 3D Sonic than Sega's ever made

I kind of had that feeling too playing a few of the more fast-paced segments of 3D World. "We thought Sonic Lost World would be Sega beating Nintendo at their own game, but it turned out Nintendo beat Sega at theirs"

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

You're comparing a single level to entire games? That's pretty gutsy I'll give you that.

but thats what Nintendo do best, they make a perfect fucking level and go "ok whats our next idea, we perfected that one and its time to move on"

gotta go fast

This week has been so confusing.. Knack is Mario, Mario is Sonic, Sonic is.. dead?

As much as I love SM3DW, this illustration of yours couldn't have been better.

That being said, even though I'm a fan of the Sonic franchise, I have to say that SM3DW is way, way better than any 3D Sonic games ever created.
It's not even close. Even Generation isn't a match.

I feel like you're fanboying this game way too hard. =p

I'm not allowed to be excited, and to share an opinion? I've made a grand total of TWO threads about the game, one about how much I enjoyed it, another on a specific level's approach to another studio's decade-old conundrum. It's not like I'm spamming.

oh no no, not trying to be a debbie downer, enjoy. =) It's just that I typically don't see threads praising mario.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Pssh, you throw around the word perfect so casually. Of course I can't say otherwise as I haven't played this level yet, but I have a hunch the level doesn't even play like a Sonic game, making them uncomparable. It's supposed to be a Mario Kart level afterall.

lol I also havent played the game, and yes I am using the word perfect casually. Not all Mario levels are perfect but they are always of a high standard. Also I agree, from what Ive seen these really arent 2 comparable things. Its like comparing Portal and CoD (for a really random example)

That Mario vid's not a good example as they're playing the slowest character.

But yes, it manages a combination of momentum and control that even Sonic Generations just doesn't have.

Generations alone is better than every Mario game ever made.
