wrong as usual. the wii is far more recent than gamecube and shows the current state of nintendo franchises.. it may not be 100%, but has relevancy to the subject.

Then why is WiiU and WiiU Software on par with Gamecube and nowhere near Wii?

GAMES.

And why is the Ps4 and X1 selling more like the ps2 and not the ps360?

Price + Power + Massive Third Party Support.  If PS3 had been as powerful as it was and had launched at $350 Wii wouldn't have got off the ground.  Notice the cheaper PS3 became the less Wii sold.

What?! Just no ..... you can't be serious. You think the Wii audience would have bought a PS3 instead? It didn't offer them what they wanted remotely. Wii could have been $400 and it'd still sold gangbusters.

No, but the PS2 audience would have.  The only reason Wii was able to get off the ground was its price versus the other consoles and not some mythic property inherent in games like Wii Sports or Wii Play that only sold as well as they did because they were bundled with the system, a controller, or dirt cheap.

Nah, not remotely true. Wii got the whole family involved, everything up to mother, father, and grandparents. PS2 never did that on any large scale. Sorry but you're way off base.

The "lost" PS2 owners went to 360, hence the PS360 userbase > Xbox, PS2.

Actually PS2 was around 100k when 360/PS3 released, PS360 are at 160m now.

next year wait wasnt it supposed to hit that by this years end lol

Nintendo forecasted 9 Million by next year fiscal end... or whatever it was. So, not really.

OT: Hopefully. I won't say definitely because I'm not a fortune teller like some people here, but just hopefully

How can you say that when we wont really know how well these consoles are gonna sell until the launch period is over. Right now they're gonna sell whatever they make.

It will be epic when we see failing the 10m mark next year.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

probably not and if it does it will be just barely.

...and definitely bookmarking this one.

Yeah and PS2 still managed to sell 150 million consoles.  Something the Wii will never do with its audience of grandparents and elementary school kids.

Wii only did as well as it because it was cheap.  Then word of mouth turned it into a fad after its cheapness allowed it to become a hard to track down item.

Not sure why we're talking about this, but do you really think there aren't enough grandparents and kids in the world to facilitate +150m consoles? Also the Wii's problem was that it had way stronger competition and Nintendo pretty much let it die, whereas the PS2 had scrubs for competition and Sony let it sell tens of millions even after the 7th gen started.

Oh, and inb4 curl-6 points out that it had a normal console lifespan for the quadrillionth time. :L

Whatever happens, dropping the price again is crazy, and stupid. Nintendo need to make a profit on this console, don´t matter what, keep the price as it is and keep the good games coming, that will do.
It is not about winning the gen, it is about making a little profit, if they do that, they will be fine.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I believe next year it will seriously pick up compared to this year because of the following.

- More game releases
- Price drop

I don't think it should have too much trouble reaching 10 million by the end of 2014.

The Wii U will do just fine. It's just not going to be the huge success the Wii was. They finally have the proper advertising out letting people know that the Wii U is entirely different console....not just an upgrade for the Wii. The new bundle with New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Luigi instead of NintendoLand will help as well. Super Mario 3D world will slowly increase sales as well.

It's not like Nintendo isn't going to move any systems this holiday. The $299 price will help

Nintendo made a horrible move by having none of their big guns release all year. Pikmin 3 and The Wonderdful 101 are great, but they are not system sellers. They needed to release A new Zelda (Not a remake), a Metroid, Mario Kart/Mario Party, Donkey Kong, Smash Bros, Star Fox....something. I know many of these are in development, but these are the games that people expect from Nintendo. I love my Wii U (And PS4 ;) ) but I didn't buy the Wii U to play ports and crappy third party gimmick games.
