Good news for Microsoft, but I wonder where does this money come from? Surface tablets flopped, Windows phones doing ok but not gigantic amounts, Windows 8 and Office were not received well by consumers. Did I miss any product? Oh yes, Xbox - which had to hide behind entertainment section to show profit/loss account.

Windows 8 and Office is selling on par with 7, it's a money machine.

Xbox makes profits, has done for the last 6 years.

Surface is a drop in the ocean.

Windows phones sell like 8m a Q now?

Office wasnt received well by co simers?  when?

Office is a cash cow.

Windows is a cash cow.

Enterprise is an even bigger cash cow.  MS is MASSIVE in the enterprise sector and now including cloud and associated repeat income business will only get bigger and bigger.

Stop reading weak and ill thought out knee jerk reactions on sites like this and do some research, MS is more profitable now than it has ever been in its history.

They also seem to be targeting Blackberry's stranghold on enterprise.  If that plays out, then the Windows Phone market will not only grow substantially but it will create a revenue stream that will be lucrative for years and years to come.

For me the scariest thing is the next CEO.  If s/he is determined to make his/her mark on history instead of helping to cultivate the positive intiatives already in place, then this could be a stock not worth keeping long term.  Of course all of this is my opinion ...

What i like most about MS is something which nearly Nobody wants to hear. MS is been voted the best Company to work for in Europe. Even The Most tolerant Company for People from Different Races and sexual Orientation. They seem to care More for their Employees as many Other Companies do, which is to be honest not hard in Europe. Its far more easier to Call them M$ than say something positive about Big Bad MS. Beside that i would like to See Sony Turn Things in the right Direction as Well like they already do with their playstation Brand.

Itll take some time to clean up Don Mattricks mess, but they are getting there :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

DOW is up about the same amount since January so this isn't at all surprising. It's a good time for investors in pretty much everything...

MS has signficantly outperformed the DOW, NASDAQ and s&p since January.

DOW is up around 20%, s&p 24% and the NASDAQ 30%. MS is up 39%

I just sold my Nintendo stock at a nice profit. I may dump some cash into MSFT... the stock may rise further with a new CEO. The big question is whether it is a "value" right now. I like undervalued stock. I think MSFT is a a solid, money making company. I just don't know if the share price should be higher.

If you like undervalued stocks take a look at AMD ;)

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out :)

I bought AMD stock when it was rumoured that all the consoles (home) will be using their processors.

Wish I had bought more once it was confirmed.
