Knack, very much alike Ryse: Are both terrible games.

I disagree. I played both Killzone and Knack.

Id much rather play Knack if I had a PS4. I was surprised at how good it was actually. Also its quite hard. Best exclusive launch game on PS4 imo.

Better than KZ SF.

Clearly you've got rather low standards then. To me, Killzone is a 6/10. A decent game, but closer to mediocre/shit than good/great. Both Knack, Killzone and Ryse are forgettable games that are simply here to pass the time until some incredible games launch.

Your opinion.

I really like Knack and Ryse. Knack was alot of fun. It surprised me. Ryse is my fav cinematic game to date. Completed 4 times so far. Gonna do more coop soon. Not playing any other game yet cause IM having alot of fun.

Here are some interesting tidbits that seem to convey that the consumer disagrees with the "pro" reviewers.

Thanks for hammering the point why pro reviewers deserve to be paid and user reviews... are often ignored.

No, you can definitely say that early adopters are marking the big MS/Sony published launch games higher, they  went out and bought a 500/400 dollar machine on day one for those games for gods sake they have to assure themselves that they've made the right decision. Also I have watched a Ryse playthrough on Youtube and while I will not comment on gameplay (aside from the missing enemy variety, you either fight barbarians with an ax or fat barbarians with an ax, a shield and weird pointy nipplearmor), I can definitely say that this games' story is completely mindless, so sure the game is cinematic, but that doesn't mean it's good at it and I'd honestly suggest you to play the game again in a year after you've experienced more next gen games.

But anyway, while I don't think people should sheepishly agree with reviewers, I would still at this point trust their opinion about a game way more than a guys' that has just 1-2 weeks ago bought an expensive new electronic device just to play said game. You can go about finding games you like anyway you want, but for me there is absolutely no merit in user reviews for big next gen games at this point.

I liked the story. Cliche yes. Well Done absolutely. Theirs games out there that media say is a good story and well done. I bought these games based on the reviews and hype. And they were mediocre to a  borefest. Theress story out there praised by people which are just as cliche as Ryse but far worse impllemented.

Rule of thumb? I dont trust reviews for cinematic games. Ive ben burned to many times. Gears Of War series the mdia say is passale story. I enjoyed that more than the gmes they praise for story. Gears 3 was amazing. So was 2. I love the story. Halo, best story in games Ive ever seen. Iv playd and completed yse 4 times already. Im still not sick of it. I stil havent played Forza 5 yet. I want to get 1000 gamerscore first on Ryse, nd thebest bit is i doesnt feel like a chore.

Best cinematic gae Iv played yet. Love it.

Also Really like Knack. After playing KZ and Knack definately reccomend Knack first. Thought i was really quite good.

Like I said, you can enjoy the games you want and are free to choose which games to buy however you want. I wouldn't pay money for Ryse since I find it looks very boring but if you like it more power to you.

That doesn't change that I feel that looking at user reviews for a next gen flagship exclusive title is a very dodgy way to judge a games quality so short after the consoles' and games' release.

And since you've told me your rule of thumb I might as well tell mine: Did I enjoy the developers past works? Does the games' aesthetic and genre appeal to me? What do reviews/previews/impressions of other people say about this game? And if available, did I enjoy the demo or find it at least intriguing? I'm a university student, I don't have much money and most of it goes into rent, food and occasionally booze (ok more than occasionally), so consequently I don't buy many games. Matter of fact I've only bought 3 games in 2013 and there is not one 2014 game where I know that I'll buy it for sure yet (well Persona 5 but I'll eat my hat if that comes to the west in 2014). This year the only games I've bought were Ni No Kuni, TLOU and Fifa 13 (since I got it for 16€ and I've been playing it with friends quite often) and I've enjoyed all of those immensely.

alos selnor has played Ryse...

What does Selnor having played Ryse have to do with this?

Seems all the arguing died down for some reason.

Did nobody read that knack outsold mario? There should be a lot more moderated posts in here.

As soon as it gets down to $19.99, I'll think about getting it. I'd rather spend my money on Lego Marvel Super Heroes if I want a kid friendly platformer though.

Kowenicki derailing a thread again and not getting banned lol turkish was right, how does he get away with it? he is like a better, funnier, slicker version of rol

It's pretty obvious what the OP was about. Nicki just called him out for it.

This game and Ryse will both be forgotten about by next year and I for one can not wait. Heck this is the first thread I seen about either of them in a few days I think. If they weren't exclusive people would admit they are both shit games.

Lair was worse and it wasn't forgotten for the first 3 years lol

Lair scored well with the consumer though

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

The Amazon UK scores are so funny.
The first reviewer has mostly only reviewed and five stared ps4 products.
The second reviewer has only given either one or five stars.
The third reviewer states that he or she has never played the game.
The fourth reviewer has only reviewed Knack.
The fifth reviewer has five started every product he or she has reviewed.
The seventh reviewer five stared every review except a foot pump.
The ninth reviewer has only given either one or five stars.
The tenth reviewer, the only one to give a one star, has mostly only five stared Xbox One products and one stared PS4 ones.

If there was ever an example of a game failing upwards, this is it.

This is the Game of Thrones

Where you either win

or you DIE

the game is not too bad. on hard, it plays like god of war made from pixar. you die a lot, one mistake and you are dead.
platforming is shit.
level design is shit.
every secret is the same.
no riddles.

art design is ok. story shit. but it feels good to play it.
get the game once it hits the bargain bins or ps+. won't take too long.

to me, it is a 7.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse
