Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Eiji Aonuma wants the next Zelda to provide “a unique experience that is beyond your expectations”

Aonuma primarily thanked fans for their dedication. He additionally sneaked in a few words about the next Zelda game – most certainly Zelda Wii U – in which he expresses his “desire to create a unique experience that is beyond your expectations.”

Aonuma’s note in full reads:

It has been 25 years since The Legend of Zelda was introduced to the world, and it is still going strong. This was made possible by the fans who love the series. In the next installment, it is my desire to create a unique experience that is beyond your expectations. We are privileged to have your unwavering support.

He's still trying to "surprise". Not giving people what they want but what he THINKS they want.

How about a really solid by-the-numbers Ocarina clone with maximum production value.

ALBW from what I've played so far, is a big step in the right direction for the series. I'm pretty pumped for the next Zelda after being moderately disappointed in skyward sword.

EDIT: Honestly though, if Eiji screws up this one, I think the series should be given to someone else. He's had his fun experimenting, but he has made some poor games by Zelda standards. Time to return to form.

how about a zelda game with a sling shot that shoots rock that looks like a bird using the tough screen of the wiiu.....

I can't believe anyone could spin, "I want to create a unique game that will exceed your expectations" into a negative statement. "No, don't do that! What are you thinking?! Make a generic game that just barely meets my expectations!"

I can't wait to see what he has in the works.

I appreacciate that.

Skyward Sword and TP were supposed to be revolutionary zeldas according to him and were just ok to me.

He already made that. It was called Twilight Princess and look how that sold. It's a dead end, not worth pursuing.

Granted, but it still had the wolf gimmick and whatever the hell the first hour was (certainly wasn't hitting things with a sword)

opinions how do they work?

"Excuse me sir, I see you have a weapon. Why don't you put it down and let's settle this like gentlemen"  ~ max

Doubt he can go beyond my expectations, which atm is the E3 demo, and I don't think they will top that.

Hopefully the new Zelda is better than Skyward Sword, which wasn't bad but suffered from terrible pacing issues in the second half that made the game feel padded. Heard A Link Between Worlds is really good though so I'm looking forward to checking it out.
