Is the person who would buy this device the target audience for Xbox One? If you were going to buy this device then getting a Xbox One gives you the same feature and more.  In fact if I was going to buy this for Skype then getting just the Xbox One would cost only a net $300.

Man I don't know what is the big deal with US people and their pseudo right to privacy... Not only nobody actually cares about 99% of them and their uneventful lives are even less relevant... But the NSA could have an active HD cam system in my house I wouldn't care for a nanosecond, it's not like I have anything relevant for the NSA to see... Now I could display some major butt show for the poor lad watching the video feed... Man I'd almost petition for that poor lad job over privacy issues.... I'd rather be a clerk at WalMart than be that guy....

Xbox One looks amazing value and the device in OP doesnt even do native 1080p. Only 720p.

Xbox One will really start to show just how versatile it is the more we go into this generation.

$200 for 720p Skype. ROfL. Or $499 for a next gen gaming system with 1080p Skype, 4 party as well and everything else that goes with Xbox One.

My fairly tech savvy brother got one last year. They were the same price then too. I honestly don't know if it works as well as the original Kinect with it's auto cropping and how it can add people as they join the conversation.

I was surprised he got it, but he seemed really happy with it. But I think he gave it to a non tech relative.

Still... I mean at that price you can find a Windows phone or even a laptop with windows 8 and huge icon of Skype in the modern UI dash even my 94 age old grandma could use...

I used skype on my One the other day with a work buddy and it was really easy to use as well as quite amazing. I can see using this as a really good video conferencing tool for families and friends. As for the ones who are worried about NSA... really? Unless you are doing some crazy terrorist activities I doubt anyone would be that interested in you. If they were then they can probably tap in on every cell phones with a camera out there.
